Year 9 Autumn Work to complete at home.

Look at where you are at with your current piece of work. If you have your sketchbook, you will be able to pick up where you left off in the classroom – otherwise, start the next piece after the current work you are doing. Do all work A4 size in the middle of a page in your sketchbook. If you do not have your sketchbook, there are blank pages at the end of this document to use. If in any doubt, contact Mr Hewson: hewsons@bishopperowne.co.uk

Use the slide on the left as the inspiration for the next piece of work in your sketchbook. Choose one of the sets of photos of a person from pages 3 and 4. Paint a textured background over a double page in your sketchbook or over 2 A4 sheets that you will find at the end of this document. Then, cut each photo from the sheet, so that you have 4 long rectangles. Cut out only the clothes on the figures – the dresses, tops and skirts on the woman, and the suits on the man. Then, with 2 of the figures, put a piece of vintage handwritten letter and songsheet behind each one, that you will find on page 5. Paint and textures these but still let the words or music notes still show through. Then, with the other 2 figures, put things on the inside of 2 of the figures like buttons or other things you can find. Finally, place all 4 of these figures on your double page and glue down.

• Then, do the shading with normal pencils or colouring pencils or pen.

• OR paint the base colours and do the shading in pencil or pen over the top.

• OR complete in paint with shades and details.

Teesha Moore 4th task over a single side in sketchbook or over a double page. Use one or two sheets to do this work at the back of this document. 4 lessons.

• Using magazines or photos from the internet, collage create a weird version of yourself, or someone you know, or someone famous, looking at the examples of Teesha Moore’s artwork on the previous page to help you with ideas.

• Cutting out a head or a figure from a magazine or printed from the internet, make simple changes like adding sunglasses over the face, or add on a different pair of eyes cut out from a different photo.

• Add words that say what the person is like or wants to be like.

• Think about ways to texture and doodle the background and the colours you’ll use.

• Consider what elements might be collaged together and how bodies – human like or otherwise could be added – drawn or collaged together.

• Think about what statements or wishes you will add to further decorate/texture the background, as well as other patterns and shapes you will add using different techniques.

the details and folds in the wrapper.

• Then, do the shading with normal pencils or colouring pencils or pen.

6th page: 6 lessons. Good and evil you. Double page in sketchbook or use 2 blank pages at the end of this document. • On the left side of your double page, take a photo of

you looking ‘good’ (just the head and the tops of shoulders) and then draw it as a line drawing only. Think about how the expression on your face can help you look ‘good’ as well as the lighting! Put an arch window around it like the artwork on the right (by the artist Peter Blake).

• Then on the other side, take another photo of you looking ‘evil’, thinking about the expression on your face that will help you look evil! Will it look even more evil if you have a light putting weird shadows on your face? Draw this portrait as a line drawing only. What kind of window will you put around your evil self?

• How will you colour all this work? Paint? Shades of one colouring pencil or realistic colours? Or will you just use normal pencil shades?

• What photos of objects will you put along the top and bottom of each page that also represent things about you that also help make you look good or evil?? Get photos of things from magazines/newspapers and the internet? 12
