Year 7 Course Information - Science Course Outline: In Year 7 Science students study a variety of topics from the 4 strands: Living World, Chemical World, Physical World and Earth and Space. Each of these topics forms a foundation on which the subsequent years of Science study will build. Each topic consists of theoretical content, practical activities and a homework booklet. The purpose of the homework booklets is twofold, to build Literacy and Numeracy skills and to provide students with summary materials. Science skills and safety in the laboratory are a primary focus in term 1, with these skills being the emphasis of the first assessment task. The Cell Model assignment and the Keeping Water Hot task both focus on research skills and practical application of learning. The Yearly Examination provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning from all topics studies throughout the year.
