  • Art

    Describe and record visual information

    about butterflies

Butterfly Art Look at the butterfly painting below by Salvador Dali, who is a very famous artist. This odd painting shows two butterflies hovering in what appears to be a desert environment. They look somewhat static, as if they are not even fluttering their wings. A strong light source is coming from the upper right, casting shadows from the butterflies below them, as well as casting a long shadow from the stone-like wall behind them. Perhaps Dali is painting this captured moment simply as a sort of dream. The landscape with distant horizon appears to be mostly empty other than this wall and the butterflies. Tasks: -Read the various questions and think carefully about your answers. Write your answers around the picture. -Choose two different pictures of butterflies and write lots of descriptive words and phrases around them describing the difference in shapes, patterns and colours. What are the differences? What are the similarities?

    Art Resoure Sheet

Write all your ideas around this picture ‘brainstorming’ your ideas. Write as many words and phrases that you can think of.

  • Art Resoure Sheet
