Staying in education or training until 18 years of age All young people are now expected to continue in education or training until they are at least 18 years of age. This does not necessarily mean that you need to stay on at a school sixth form, although many of you will. You have a choice about how you continue in education OR training post-16, which could be through:
✔ Full-time study in a school sixth form, a further education college, a sixth form college or with a training provider
✔ An Apprenticeship or Traineeship with an employer ✔ Full-time work or volunteering combined with part-time education or training

Visit colleges, sixth forms and training providers open days or evenings. These are all advertised on school and college websites and in the local newspaper. There is a lot of information about your options on our school website under ‘Careers’
If you intends to get an Apprenticeship or job with training after Year 11, You should register with www.apprenticeships.org.uk
If you want to join the Army, Navy or Air Force you need to contact Armed Forces Careers Offices

Ask someone in school to help you with your applications
Keep an eye on the date for Sixth Form and College applications – most are this term
If you are worried about money, ask about the 16-19 Bursary Fund

May/June – Summer GCSE Exams Keep applying for jobs, training and

work experience during the summer, or get a summer job
