November is National Diabetes Month and World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year onNovember 14 in honor of Dr. Frederick Banting’s discovery of insulin. In 1921, Dr. FrederickBanting treated the first Type 1 diabetic. Prior to 1921, there was no cure for Type 1 diabetes.He won a Nobel Prize for his work in 1923.
