ARC FOTILLA PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS 8th Annual ARC Flotilla As the 28th edition of the world’s most popular sailing event - the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) set sail on Sunday, November 24th from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Organized by IGY Rodney Bay Marina in conjunction with the Marine Industries Association of St. Lucia, the St. Lucia Yacht Club, the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and several other corporate partners. The ARC Flotilla is a symbolic event commemorating the official start of the ARC.

IGY Rodney Bay Marina welcomed over 280 yachts in ARC & ARC+
ARC+ This year the World Cruising Club introduced ARC+ as a way to cope with the extra yachts on the ARC Waiting List. The event started on Sunday, November 10th with 43 yachts departing Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The fleet will call into Cape Verde, then set sail again with the final destination being Saint Lucia.

ARC On Sunday, November 24th, 2013 the main ARC fleet departed Las Palmas de Gran Canaria destined for Saint Lucia.
ARC CROSSING RECORD!Caro from the Cayman Islands sets a new course record, sailed across the finish line in Rodney Bay Marina at 06:10:10 local time. The 8 crew sailed just under 3000NM from Muelle Deportivo de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria www.facebook.com/pages/Muelle-Deportivo-de-Las-Palmas-de-Gran-Canaria/175224052498176 in 10 Days 21hours, 25minutes and 10 seconds, having reached boat speeds of up to 25 knots! Congratulations!
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS IGY Rodney Bay Marina Employees Benefit from the intensive Spanish Training Programme held by the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries in collaboration with the Argentinean Ministry of Tourism who has organized an intensive Spanish Training Programme for persons employed within the Maritime Sector. The programme comes on the heels of a visit to Argentina by Maritime Consultant Mr. Cuthbert Didier where talks were held regarding an international bilateral cooperation project between Argentina and Saint Lucia, with specific reference to the development of Nautical Tourism in Saint Lucia.
ARC VILLAGEAnother successful ARC Village was established at IGY Rodney Bay Marina whilst participants of ARC & ARC+ were in Saint Lucia. Chef cooking demonstartions, music, cultural shows and local arts & crafts were amongst the daily events on offer.

Torrential rains caused widespread destruction throughout St Lucia, many families in the communities of Bexon, Anse La Raye, Canaries, Soufriere, and Vieux Fort are in desperate need ofdrinking water and food supplies.
