CLEANING STEPS

1 Do a Risk Assessment •Determineriskofexposuretogermsandthe

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the task.

•WearthecorrectPPEtosafelydothejob.

2 •Putdirtylinensintolaundryhamper.

•Putlargepiecesoflitterintogarbagecan.

•Ifdangerousequipmentorsuppliesarefound,suchasneedles,handlethemcarefullyasoutlined

in the Sharps procedure.

3 •Cleanupanybloodandbodyfluidsspillsasoutlined in the Blood and Body Fluid Spills procedure.

•Removeyourdirtyglovesanddohandhygieneimmediately after cleaning a spill.

•ChangetheCleaner/Disinfectantsolution.

•Putonacleanpairofglovesbeforethenexttask.

4 •Startroutinecleaningbyusingadustingwandtoreach items such as a fan or ceiling light.

Wall Attached Items•UsethecleaningclothswithCleaner/Disinfectantsolutiontowipedirtyareasonthewalls(spotclean)andotheritemsonthewallssuchashandrails,bulletinboards,lightswitches,doorsandframes,windowsillsPLUSmirrorsandwindows.

6 •Polishorshinechromeandglasswithglasscleaner.

•Useacleaningclothtowipeothersurfacessuchastables,chairs,TV,phone,water cooler and toys.

•SeetheToysprocedureformoredetailsonthecleaningoftoys.

8 •Setupwetfloorsignbeforecleaningthefloor.

9 •Emptyanygarbagecans.

•Wipetheinsideandoutsideofgarbagecans using cleaning cloths. •Removeglovesanddohandhygiene.

10 •Shifteasilymoveditemsoutofthewaytomake cleaning easier.

•Scrapeanygum/stickyspots.

•Sweepuplargepiecesofdirtandplaceingarbage can using a brush and dustpan.

•Drymopfloor.

11 •Dampmopfloor.

12 •Afterthefloorisdry,removethewetfloorsign.

•Putlinerbagsingarbagecansandplacethemback in the right place.

•Setupthefurnitureifitwasmoved.

13 •Beforeleavingtheroom,remembertoremovedirty gloves.

•Dohandhygiene.
