Professional Development Exchange Days

All professional staff must accumulate a minimum of 12 Professional Development/Exchange Day hours. Six hours (6) must be taken between June 1, 2018 and December 21, 2018 to be used for the January 21st Exchange Date, and the remaining six (6) hours must be completed by May 23, 2019 to be used for the May 28th Exchange date on the Wylie ISD 2018-2019 School Calendar. All professional development applicable to exchange days must be taken during off-contract time (summer, evenings and/or weekends), approved by the staff member’s appraiser, and documented in Workshop. The following credits will be honored towards the 12 hour Exchange Date for Parent/Teacher Conferences: Elementary - 6 hours Secondary - 3 hours

This leaves a balance due of 6 hours for Elementary teachers (PK-4) and 9 hours for Secondary teachers (5-12). The following chart further explains how we get to the balance of hours owed:

Elementary Teachers 187 Contract Days -174 Student Instruction Days 13 Days of Staff Development - 8 Days August Back to School PD Weeks (Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-15) 5 - 3 Calendar embedded days (Jan. 7, Feb. 18 and May 24) 2 Days - 1 Day/6 hours (Parent Teacher Conferences) 1 Day or 6 hours balance owed

Secondary Teachers 187 Contract Days -174 Student Instruction Days 13 Days of Staff Development - 8 Days August Back to School PD Weeks (Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-15) 5 - 3 Calendar embedded days (Jan. 7, Feb. 18 and May 24) 2 Days - .5 Day/3 hours (Parent Teacher Conferences) 1.5 Days or 9 hours balance owed

Questions to consider as you plan your learning this summer…

What are your instructional and professional learning goals for 2018-2019?

How will these impact student achievement?

How will you maximize professional learning experiences to refine your

practices?
