W.O.W. SOCIAL COMMITTEE
TIS THE SEASON and we are so happy to be a part of this awesome and generous group called the Women of Woodside. It is time to take a deep breath and remember that whatever you have to do this season it will get done in time, and if by any chance it does not get done, then know that you are probably the only one to notice it!! We wish everyone a warm, loving and happy holiday season with their family and friends.
Remember that in the new year we have some exciting new social events for you, beginning with our third and final Enrichment Series ……
Identity Theft Prevention Thursday, January 23, 2020
10 am – 11 am THE RESERVE CLUB
We are privileged to have Lt. Key of Aiken Public Safety come to the Reserve Club to speak to us about a very important subject that affects each of us… Identity Theft. If you are fortunate and have never had to deal with this in your lifetime, then come and see how you can continue to keep this from happening to you. If you have been a victim of Identity Theft, Lt. Key will help you navigate the process to secure your assets and prevent anyone from taking on your identity. This is something we rarely think about, but can happen to anyone of us, so make sure you attend.
This lecture is completely free, but we would like you to please sign-up on-line at the W.O.W. website so we have an idea of the number of people attending. If you are not computer savvy, please call Daria at 301-928-6439 or Lynda at 703-328-7603 and let us know you are attending.
YOU CAN NOW SIGN UP ON-LINE FOR THE “GREASE LIGHTNING” CAR RALLY
FEBRUARY 11 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
COST: $25 per person
We will be sending an e-blast in early December announcing that the sign-up for the Grease Lightning Car Rally is available on our website. Space is limited so sign-up on the W.O.W. website as early as you can. Just click on the Events Tab on the home page and scroll down to find the Grease Lightning Car Rally. Tickets are $25 per person and this includes the rally, prizes and soda shop food with a Sundae Bar at Betsy’s following the rally. There will also be a cash bar. We encourage all participants to gather in groups of at least four (if you can fit five in your car, all the better) and while husbands/partners are welcome, other par-ticipants must be W.O.W. members. This fun event will have you and your car mates following clues, solv-ing riddles and participating in other fun activities that will lead you to various locations in Woodside and throughout Aiken. For those of you who signed up for pre-registration at the W.O.W. Kick-Off, you will be guaranteed a spot once you register on the W.O.W. website on or before February 5, 2020.

“WE ARE ONE”
CAREGIVERS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT GROUP
Are you a caregiver to someone in your life suffering from Alzheimer’s/Dementia? Would you like to get to-gether with other caregivers who understand the fear, loss, frustration and loneliness one feels when looking after a loved one with this difficult disease? We are looking for a group of W.O.W. members who are care-givers to join us once a month for dinner to talk together in a safe and knowing environment. This is a new group and the members will decide how it wants to proceed, including selecting topics and/or activities each month, i.e., whether we want to invite someone to have dinner with us who can help us through the process, or if we just want to enjoy an evening of good food, wine and lots of understanding. Please e-mail Daria Carney at [email protected] if you are interested in joining this group.

W.O.W. COMMUNITY OUTREACH
“IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!” We are so blessed to call Woodside Plantation home. It’s easy to forget that others in our community are struggling to simply get by. As you plan for the New Year and consider your charitable donations for 2019 and 2020, please consider donating to the W.O.W. Inaugural Capital Campaign. The Women of Woodside proudly make a HUGE positive impact in Aiken County. Help us help others. You can still purchase a Holiday Mailbox Huggie (or mantle greenery) for $20 from Jerrie Shepherd. Call Jer-rie at 803-270-9008. These Huggies last indefinitely, and all proceeds benefit the Salvation Army of Aiken County’s Family Shelter. Please consider volunteering with the Women of Woodside at Christmas in Hopelands Gardens! Our two nights are December 21st and December 23rd. The shifts are from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm and 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Bring a spouse or a friend. Watching the expressions on the kids’ faces as they enjoy the cookies and hot chocolate is pretty special. Call Julie Brozowski at 954-931-3240 or Margie Robertson at 703-919-8022 to volunteer.
