Our Practice of Close Communion We believe from Acts 2:42 and 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 that Holy Communion is the

highest expression of our fellowship with Jesus and with each other, and that God intends the sacrament to be celebrated together by Christians who accept all the teachings of the Bible. If you are a guest and are not yet a member of the WELS/ELS fellowship, we invite you to learn more about us and, most of all, about the Savior whom God has sent. Then join with us at his supper. To learn more about our faith and fellowship, speak with Pastor Brauer or Pastor Yahnke.

Personal preparation for Holy Communion can be found on page 156 in front of the hymnal.

TSL Call News The Trinity voters issued a divine call to Mrs. Kelli Baas to serve as early childhood

ministry director for TSL. She is currently serving as early childhood director at Trinity Lutheran School in Brillion, Wisconsin. Include her in your prayers!

Bible Readings Included as an insert is a series of weekly Bible readings (beginning on Sunday,

January 19). These readings are intended to complement your "Why am I here?" thoughts and prayers. The readings are sanctification readings from Paul's letters. These same readings are found in the December newsletter.

Ushers and Greeters Schedules New usher and greeter schedules are available for the year 2020 and may be

picked up on the ushers’ table in the narthex.

Forward In Christ The January issue of Forward in Christ is available to subscribers in the Fireside

Room. A library copy is available on the bookshelf in the Fireside Room.

ROC Open House On Saturday, January 25 from 10 am to 2 pm the ROC will be having an open

house for all four Watertown WELS congregations that have graciously supported this important and much needed ministry for over 15 years. This is an excellent time to learn about our ministry and the needs of our mission. The Watertown Recreation & Outreach Center for Youth is located at 213 North 3rd Street. Lunch and refreshments will be served. Thank you for your continued support. Please come and join us!

ROCK RIVER AREA OWLS

Our OWLS chapter will hold its January 21, 2020 (third Tuesday) gathering at St Paul's Lutheran Church located a few miles northwest of Ixonia starting at 1:30 pm. Linda Kauffeld will present "Building the Ark Encounter." This is about the famous full size replica of Noah's ancient ark which has recently been built in Williams-town, Kentucky. Mrs. Kauffeld from the Watertown Seniors Center has been there and has a program for us. Ladies of St Paul will provide refreshments. Pastor Joel Free serves the congregation which conducts a 3-5K to 8th grade school with five teachers. St Paul's is located at W1955 Gopher Hill Rd just off County Rd SC north from State Hwy 16 between Ixonia and Watertown. Local church members are invited to attend this meeting in their midst. OWLS provides a wonderful opportunity for us seniors to grow spiritually and enjoy the fun and fellowship of neighboring WELS and ELS members. Bring a friend with you. All are welcome. NOTE: Annual memberships ($15) for the national OWLS come due again in January.

Movie Showing The Alpha Resource Center: Tri County Chapter of Christian Life Resources, in

conjunction with its annual meeting at the Alpha Center at 3:30 pm on January 26, will be hosting a showing of the movie “Unplanned”: The Dramatic True Story of a Former Planned Parenthood Leader's Eye-Opening Journey across the Life Line.

The movie will be shown on January 26 at 1:00 pm in the Auditorium at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown. A free will offering will be collected at the door. Following the movie there will be an open house from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Alpha Resource Center with light snacks & refreshments.

If you would be a good fit for this position, we invite you to submit your resume to [email protected] or call 414-727-8176. If you know someone who may be interested in working with us, please tell them. Applicants must be WELS or ELS members. Complete position descriptions available upon request.

Jesus passion is so important that we contemplate it for six weeks before we celebrate Easter. Jesus passion is so important that it is a story worth sharing with all who will hear it. We’d like tell people what Jesus endured to save us from our sins through a program called “Journey to the Cross.” Journey to the cross is a visual presentation of the gospel message centered on Jesus' passion. Through the JTTC program, guests make a travel reservation and are guided to different scenes in which actors present the message of Jesus' passion to them. We'd like to host JTTC on Saturday, April 4. In order to tell this story we need a lot of help. We need a minimum of 4 "travel guides". We need at least two "custom agents," and we need a minimum of 10 actors. We could also use an individual who would be the contact person for gathering the many props and visual aids we will need. This is a big undertaking, but this is a big opportunity for us to share the good news of Jesus with others. Provided that we have enough help, we will hold our first staff meeting in February. If you are interested in learning more, or are committed to helping us in these efforts, please sign up on the sheet in the fireside room or contact pastor Yahnke, 414-614-0077, [email protected]
