    1/1

    Worley English 352 Final Project

The final project for the course has two parts.

    First:

The final project in this course requires you to document your own journey throughout the course,

the course readings, and the fall semester at WCU beginning today. What do you expect tolearn in the course? What do you take away from each individual course reading and how

does it dialogue with past readings? How do these course readings speak (or fail to speak) to

your own experiences in the classroom and outside of it? Are some texts too difficult or

perhaps too easy? How do you account for these experiences? Do you identify with some

peoples journeys more than others? Why or why not?

As you answer these questions throughout the semester you are not bound to create answers that

employ only texts written with Latin letters. Feel free to include found objects and pictures,

and to place them in dialogue with your experience of the course as well.

The broad requirements for this part of the assignment are as follows:

One entry per week Each entry should consist of no fewer than 100 words

Each entry may be typed or, if you choose, hand written so long as it is legible

As outlined above, you are NOT limited to traditional notions of text and textuality.

    BE CREATIVE

    Second:

Once assembled, you will then write a critical reflection (3-5 pages) of your own journey through

the course, analyzing your own story as though it were one of the texts read in class.

How does the protagonist (you) change over time? Why? What are the limitations the protagonist

places on him/herself as the fall progresses? To what extent does she/he overcome these

limitations and how? How do you understand the cultural moment from which you are

writing? How does this shape you as a reader/writer/actor and how do you likewise contribute

to shaping your culture? How does that knowledge help you understand the cultural moments

of others across time and space? In reflecting on cultural diversity, do you think you are a

different actor in the global environment? As part of this assignment you are encouraged to

incorporate current events and theoretical readings from this and other relevant courses.
