  • At ITC our story began with luxury travel to Barbados, an island just 21 miles long by 14

    miles wide.

Forty years later and our portfolio spans the entire globe, covering every continent and a

wealth of incredible countries; many of them far from the well-trodden tourist trail.

As the world has become smaller, our clients are better travelled and so are we.

Our Travel Specialists now jet off to numerous far-flung locations to ensure we have the

experience to honestly recommend the destinations we offer. This drive to enhance our

    expertise in luxury global travel recently culminated in the launch of our South Africa office;

a momentous way for our business to mark its four decades and look to the future.

While the stalwarts of the travel market, such as the Caribbean, will always ensure superb

holidays, its fair to say that since our founding in 1974 there has been an ever-increasing

demand for something different. Seeing the Big Five, climbing Machu Picchu and capturing

Uluru at sunset are now on many a travel wish list.

As experts in luxury holidays, were delighted to enhance these experiences with so much

more; our Concierge team creating bespoke added extras that will stay with you forever.

Champagne picnics in the Serengeti, afternoon tea overlooking the Lost City or a guided

tour through the Kantju Gorge at dusk are just some of the ways we give your wish list of

travel wonders the wow factor. At ITC, we get you as close to the experience as we possibly

can with absolutely no compromise on style and luxury.

Because no two of these made-to-measure holidays will ever be the same, weve looked

to inspire you in this brochure with a taste of what we can do; but of course youll find

plenty more on our website and by speaking to our in-house travel experts. For those who

have travelled with us before, youll discover many new hotels and destinations within this

brochure too; theyre certain to inspire your next luxury holiday.

So wherever your travels take you, rest assured in ITC Luxury Travel youll find a tour

operator who sees the world through your eyes; as a profusion of incredible destinations just

waiting to be experienced. We look forward to creating your next bespoke luxury adventure

    with you.

  • Whether its the captivating and vibrant metropolis of Bangkok, lush rainforests, the mountainous Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces or the idyllic coastline and beaches such as Koh Samui, Thailand has something for everyone. For a true taste of Thailand the floating markets are a must see - with Bangkok and Ratchaburi being the most popular. Take a tuk tuk ride around its capital and enjoy the colourful culture - tranquil Buddhist temples, splendid palaces and the network of canals that run through the Venice of the Far East. The beaches of Thailand are legendary; platinum white sands that stretch for miles around its stunning coastline and islands which offer an idyllic spot to enjoy a honeymoon.

In Thailand youll find that there is a destination for every discerning luxury traveller, and whether you love nothing more than experiencing culture shock and being wowed by a places incredible heritage, or you simply yearn for a tranquil place to rest, certain in the knowledge that the hardest decision youll make is what to eat for dinner; this country will have the spot to suit. But, as with many luxury holiday destinations, youll find that there are certain musts; things which everyone should enjoy regardless of their age, their likes and dislikes or how well travelled or not they are. With that in mind, every traveller to Thai shores should experience its wonderful cuisine; bursting with flavour and with ingredients that will tingle your taste buds. You should also take in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok; a city with vibrancy at every corner that will indulge your ever sense, and on your wish list should certainly be the incredible beaches, which will rival those youve seen anywhere in the world; white sand, blue waters and enchanting reefs await.

Flight duration: 11 hours 15 minutes to Bangkok (direct). Phuket and Koh Samui 14 hours 40 minutes (via Bangkok)

British Airways and Thai Airways fly direct from London Heathrow to Bangkok with onward connections throughout Thailand. Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad also operate indirect flights to Thailand from regional UK Airports.

    Climate

Thailand is a destination that can be visited at any time with a tropical climate of high temperatures and humidity and diversity within the various regions of the country. The north may have the odd shower from August to October which is what keeps the landscape looking so lush, while the east coast is great to visit from December to February. On the west coast conditions are at their very best from November to March.

    Why Thailand?

Experiencing Thailand first-hand should be on every travellers wish list. Why? Because it offers so much in such a relatively small space that you can pack in plenty of new and exciting encounters in just a few weeks.

At ITC Luxury Travel we pride ourselves on our knowledge of the destinations we offer and in Thailand we can arrange for a bespoke luxury holiday that is certain to inspire.

Arriving in Bangkok youll be amazed by the night markets, fabulous restaurants, river boats and cultural highlights. Spending a few days in the capital is a must at the beginning or end of any Thai holiday.

You could then head north for a few days, to the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle which is reached by river boat amid Thailands exotic bamboo jungles. Located at the heart of the Golden Triangle, on elevated ground along a hillside trail, the camp commands magnificent views over the Ruak River, Burma, the mountains of Laos, the jungle and the Golden Triangle itself. Activities not to be missed in the north include elephant trekking and cooking classes; which will both give you a true flavour of Thailand.

Your bespoke tour could then take you south to the beautiful island and coastal regions of the country. Youll be left feeling relaxed and spoilt by the pristine beaches, tranquil spas and picturesque surrounds.

    Travellers

For families heading to the country Banyan Tree Samui and Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offer action-packed kids clubs and plenty of watersports. Couples will revel at Rayavadee in Krabi with its elegant dining options, or for a wellbeing break Chiva Som is ideal. Recent retirees will love watching the world go by on the Eastern & Oriental Express train while those travelling in numbers with enjoy the space and privacy of the villas at Trisara.

Twin with: We can create a dual escape including Thailand to anywhere you fancy, but destinations which make for a great duo include Dubai, the Maldives and Australia.

  • Phuket

When to go: the best time to go is traditionally November to April, with the opposite season of May to October experiencing some showers.

Where to stay: be treated like royalty at the Amanpuri, the tranquil space and infinity pools of the Trisara and the pure indulgence of the Banyan Tree Phuket.

Must do experiences: Phuket is an island just an hour from Bangkok. A guided tour around the island is a great way to see it in full, with look-out points along the way for some fantastic photo opportunities. The main tourist city is Patong, where you can shop at the markets and experience some great night life. A trip to see The Big Buddha is a definite must and for those who want an authentic Thai experience an elephant trek is a once in a lifetime experience everyone should tick from their bucket list. Twin your stay with Krabi - which can be easily reached by boat. Those who enjoy more active activities should ask their Travel Specialist to organise Sea Cave Canoeing when booking.

    Bangkok

When to go: the driest period to visit spans most of the year - including the months of November to May - while you should expect rain in August and September.

Where to stay: at The Peninsula, Bangkok with its renowned afternoon tea and helipad, the Mandarin Oriental away from the hubbub of the city or the Banyan Tree Bangkok.

Must do experiences: the Patpong night market is the best way to get an authentically Thai shopping experience, and whats more, youre unlikely to get pestered by the sellers. A journey on a tuk tuk is a must, as is a visit to both the Temple of Dawn and the Grand Palace - which we can arrange guided tours for. A trip on a James Bond boat along the Chao Praya will give you a real sense of local life, while for some essential luxury and wow factor a meal at the Banyan Trees Vertigo Restaurant will be something you wont forget in a hurry.

    Koh Samui

When to go: a great place to visit all year round perhaps bar November.

Where to stay: at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui youll spend most of your time enjoying the wonderful, and very secluded, beach. A stay at the Six Senses Samui will see you enjoy uninterrupted views from the boutique-style villas.

Must do experiences: Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand yet it is easy to drive around - a great way to explore its diversity. Chaweng is the main resort and is very much a party place to be, with cabaret shows and shopping high on visitor attractions, as well as superb night markets. The new Central Shopping Centre is great for finding souvenirs too, but if something more authentically Thai takes your fancy then elephant trekking and monkey feeding should be experiences you make time for during your stay.

    01244 355 535 www.itcluxurytravel.co.uk10

For the discerning traveller Thailand offers the magical combination of three very different experiences; natural wonders and jungle expeditions in the north, sleek city style and superb shopping in the capital and picture-perfect beaches and pristine coastline throughout the islands and along the south. At ITC Luxury Travel we can tailor your experience of this diverse land to your exacting requirements; creating a

holiday that will stay with you for years to come.

  • Koh Kood

When to go: a wonderful destination to visit even in the traditional green season months, for minimal chance of showers the best time is between November and February.

Where to stay: Soneva Kiri by Six Senses is the ultimate, exclusive Thai resort. On arrival at Bangkok airport youll be greeted and escorted personally to the resorts private plane for the one-hour flight to the resort. The tree-top dining experience is not to be missed, and then relax by starlight at the over-water, outdoor Cinema Paradiso. The spa is exceptional and likely to become a favourite part of your stay.

Must do experiences: Koh Kood is known for its spectacular, tropical landscapes, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. This location is one of the most pristine and untouched islands of Thailand, therefore making it very exclusive.

    Krabi

When to go: Krabi has a similar season to Phuket - making it ideal for a dual-destination luxury holiday, with a week spent at each.

Where to stay: the award-winning Rayavadee is a luxury escape set in an unspoilt setting on Phra Nang headland. The barbecue-themed evenings at the unique Grotto restaurant are a must during your stay, or be utterly wowed by Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, on a private peninsular filled with forests, caves, waterfalls and its secluded pool.

Must do experiences: diving and snorkelling are excellent in Krabi, as is rock climbing, with specialist competitions held in the region. The area is probably best known for its limestone rock formations which make for worthy muses for budding photographers while cultural Thai attractions include temples, trekking in national parks and village tours. A spa treatment during your holiday will enhance the relaxing experience.

    Yao Noi

When to go: like much of Thailand, travelling to Yao Noi in the months of November to April is generally preferred to experience the very best climate.

Where to stay: remember the famous dual scene from James Bond epic Man with a Golden Gun? The limestone formation set in the background - now named James Bond Island - was the backdrop; a favourite place to visit for guests at the nearby Six Senses Yao Noi. Barefoot luxury is at one with the natural environment in this tranquil resort, nestled within lush rainforest. The cooking classes are certain to inspire, with evenings spent watching movies on the beach and lazy afternoons relaxing with free ice cream.

Must do experiences: this really is the place to get away from it all, kick back and enjoy the view. Ensure you work some time on the water into your stay for exploring the scenery by boat.

  • Getting there

    Time difference: GMT +8 hours

Flight duration: 12 hours 25 minutes to Kuala Lumpur (direct)

Malaysia Airlines flies direct from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur and onwards throughout Malaysia. Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad also operate indirect flights to Malaysia from regional UK Airports.

    Climate

Days are very warm and often humid, while nights are fairly cool. The dry season in both Malaysia and Borneo is generally considered the finest time to visit; affording the best experiences and lush, green scenery. The rainy season in the east runs between November and February, while August is the wettest period on the west coast. Your chances of seeing orang-utans are much greater from April to November.

    Why Malaysia?

To truly experience Malaysia you first have to taste it. Food is very much at the heart of the culture here and youll be left captivated by the spectrum of flavours, unusual produce and distinctly Malay style. Gourmet delights include ingredients such as peanuts, coconut, chilli, seafood and lemongrass, with dishes based around the staples of rice and noodles.

The dense rainforests in Malaysian Borneo with their incredible wildlife and unspoilt environment are a definite must do during any visit. Culturally fascinating, this most natural of countries lays waiting for you to witness in all its glory.

But of course Malaysia isnt just about the natural wonders; in Kuala Lumpur you can explore a city of intense colours, bustling with life and vibrancy. As with most places in the country, exquisite dining is a major part of the attraction. The east coast is a predominantly rural region of Malaysia, easy-going in nature and offering an interesting fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures and customs.

Most visitors to Malaysia stay close to the peninsula, where the exhilaration of Kuala Lumpur is offset by the soothing Cameron Highlands hill station or the tranquillity of Langkawi. Ensure you make the journey to Sarawak or Sabah, on the island of East Malaysia, to sample their spectacular wildlife, long houses and the awe-inspiring Mount Kinabalu.

    Travellers

Those travelling with younger guests should look at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi; with its complimentary Kids For All Seasons programme and mangrove and monkeys Safari. Accommodation options at the Pangkor Laut Resort are also great for families, in particular the Family Plan Villas - two ground floor villas adjoining from the inside. Gastronomy-loving couples will be in seventh heaven at the Gaya Island Resort with its Feast Village offering a diverse range of flavours, or the adult-only Fishermans Cove, with its menu celebrating seafood and stunning views of the sea.

Twin with: Most flights to Malaysia will stop in Singapore or go direct to the capital Kuala Lumpur, making for a superb and seamless stop-over either at the beginning or end of your travels in these hip cities. These pages are just a taste of what we can offer you on your bespoke Malaysian luxury holiday.

Please see our website www.itcluxurytravel.co.uk for inspirational itineraries, resplendent resorts and, of course, first-hand tips and knowledge of the region. Our Travel Specialists are also available to enthuse you with their insight and suggestions. Call 01244 355 535.

  • Kuala Lumpur

When to go: weather variance isnt significant in the Malaysian capital, making it suitable all year round. However, May through July is generally the least rainy time to visit.

Where to stay: Kuala Lumpurs Mandarin Oriental is surely the best-placed hotel in the city; adjacent to the Petronas Twin Towers. As you can well imagine this means that views from the rooms and suites are excellent, as is the vista from the luxurious infinity edge swimming pool. As well as the towers youll also find the Suria KLCC - the capitals premier shopping spot - next-door to the hotel.

Must do experiences: the Malaysian capital has plenty to offer. Those wanting a cultural taste of the city will be welcomed into many of the

countrys national museums and galleries. A visit up the Petronas Twin Towers is a must for all visitors - advance tickets will save

queuing time - and in the evening head to the trendy Bintang Walk with its cafes, restaurants and street entertainment.

    01244 355 535 www.itcluxurytravel.co.uk14

A very special travel experience lies waiting in Malaysia, where the wonders of the natural world will captivate your senses, the melting pot of cultures intoxicate your soul and the scenic environment indulge your curiosity. Here at ITC Luxury Travel we can build your Malaysian

adventure around your own must see highlights, which could, for example, include: orang-utan spotting, tree-top walks through the rainforest, cooking Malay cuisine with a professional chef, walking the Skybridge at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers or sailing on the Andaman Sea.

    M A L A Y S I AA T A G L A N C E

    Langkawi

When to go: November to March is the best time to visit, with warm water and air temperatures during these months.

Where to stay: a visit to Langkawi is where beach and jungle life meet. At the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi youll be rewarded for your journey with white sands and crystal blue waters. Spa treatments here are the ultimate in relaxation. At The Andaman, A Luxury Collection Resort, when youre not enjoying the pristine coast, you can journey into the 50 million year old rainforest with the hotels resident nature expert; youre likely to see Dusky Leaf Monkeys or Slow Loris on your walk. The Datai Langkawi is as close to paradise as youre likely to get and bathing beneath a cascading waterfall in one of the seven natural pools is an essential part of any trip.

Must do experiences: youll be spoilt for choice on this archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea. The islands remain relatively unspoilt boasting spectacular natural landscapes, white sandy beaches, clear emerald waters, limestone outcrops, mist covered hills and lush forests rich in exotic flora and fauna and magical waterfalls. A jungle trek should be high on your list of things to do, as should a spa treatment or two and snorkelling in the dazzling sea.

  • Pangkor Laut Island

When to go: like much of Malaysia - due to its equatorial position - there is the possibility of rain throughout the year, however showers dont last more than a couple of hours and visiting out of the wettest months of September to November can reduce the chances of rain. Temperatures are balmy to hot all year through.

Where to stay: only a fraction of Pangkor Lauts 300 acres has been developed to house Pangkor Laut Resort including the Spa Village and the secluded Estates. Enjoy the sandy beach at Emerald Bay or accompany the resorts resident naturalist on his daily trek through the lush jungle. The Spa Village offers traditional spa therapies of the region, while the chefs transform the finest local ingredients into delightful delicacies.

Must do experiences: when staying at Pangkor Laut Resort, The Chefs Kitchen Experience is a must. This gastronomic journey includes a visit to Pangkor Islands fishery, dried seafood markets, noodle maker and floating fish farm.

    Malaysian Borneo

When to go: travelling outside of the months of November to February is generally recommended. Youre more likely to see orang-utans from April and you can well expect humidity and some rain throughout the year; hence why the rainforests are so lush.

Where to stay: combining your visit to the region with a stay at the Gaya Island Resort will enhance the luxe-factor no end. Accessible only by boat, the resort lies within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu on the beautiful island of Pulau Gaya. Blending seamlessly with the environment, this is an idyllic place to retreat to after seeing the wonders of the Borneo wildlife, with the Spa Village creating an unforgettable experience. For a somewhat authentic stay within the rainforest itself, we can arrange accommodation for you at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Sepilok Nature Reserve or Borneo Nature Lodge.

Must do experiences: a haven for wildlife, surely Borneos most coveted attraction is its unspoilt rainforests. The islands orang-utans are its most famous inhabitant, but youll also discover pristine beaches and coral reefs, as well as plenty more unusual wildlife, like the cheeky Proboscis monkeys.
