Index

Our history

The name Scapa has been associated with roll covers for a long time.

In the 1980s, SCAPA-Kern evolved out of a joint venture between Semperit and Kern Rubber. Later the name was changed to scapa kern and was well established in Europe as pro-ducer of roll covers.

2000 – VOITH Corporation took over Scapa-Rolls.

2010 – skapa roll cover technology restarted under the leadership of Philippe Bringier and Dr. Benno Bader, based in northern Spain. Both had previously been employed at VOITH Paper rolls.

About us

Our plant in Northern-Spain manufactures all cov-ers for all rolls in the paper industry on an area cov-ering more than 6,000 m². We are producing rolls of all kinds, using the most up-to-date machinery in the largest connected production-plant for roll covers in Europe. Roll covers made of rubber, pol-yurethane, composite, tungsten carbide, chrome, chrome replacement, ceramic and release coatings are manufactured here.

We grind on Europe‘s largest roll-grinding-machine, with a total length of 24 m.

Looking back on over 30 years experience in the pa-per industry, we know what moves our costumers. skapa offers measurable competitive advantages, due to customized solutions, adapted to your indi-vidual requirements. It is our utmost objective to create surplus value for our customers.

We guarantee highest precision, using innovative tools and manufacturing techniques. skapa offers productivity and continual, state-of-the-art innova-tions. Our products are aligned to improve the pa-per quality on your paper-machine.

Our corporate structure has been created so as to enable us to react swiftly and flexibly. This is

difficult to realize in large enterprises. We are a team of experts with substantial experience at vari-ous prestigious producers.

The managementPhilippe Bringier, General Managercan look back on 30 years of experience in the paper industry. Area of expertise: expert for vibration analysis, conception, analysis and troubleshooting in the paper industry.

Dr. Benno Bader, Technical Direktoris an expert for roll covers. Area of expertise: technology, production and research & de-velopment.

Many of the covers found on today‘s market have been developed by Dr. Bader and carry his signature.

Hayo Geyer, Director of skapaand CEO of the V.I.T. Papertec Corporationis an “Hands-on“-manager and doer. He is res ponsible for the commercial manage-ment, corporate development and strategy.

Our research and development is based on sci-entific methods and systematic analysis, so as to be able to develop individual solutions for future requirements. The skapa-laboratory is ideally suited for this.

Storage and Transport

Rolls and their respecti ve covers are extreme-ly sensiti ve products, manufactured with the highest precision. The producti on-process is in-fl uenced by various factors: the exact chemical compositi on, processing- and casti ng param-eters and the mechanical handling of the roll covers. In order to maintain the high quality of the products, it is essenti al to follow carefully the storage and maintenance guidelines.

On principle, the rolls should never be stored outside or in areas below freezing point. Cov-ers should never be exposed to direct sunlight.

Constant temperatures should be provided forstorage. Basically it is recommended to store them in closed boxes unti l usage. The details can be found in the operati ng and servicing in-structi ons.

We produce transporti ng units on de-mand, according to your demands and individual requirements, as well as refur-bishing old ones. If required, we organize the pick-up and shipment of the rolls.
