FAMILY BACKGROUND

Mr.G.Amutha is living with her husband in Nanganallur, Chennai. She belongs to a low-er middle class family. The financial condition of her fam-ily was not so good and she wanted to provide financial support to her husband by do-ing some business. She had some knowledge in fashion jewellery. One of her neigh-bour informed her that NI-MSME offered a free course on Artificial Jewellery making at Dr. Dharmambal Govern-ment Polytechnic College for Women through Entrepreneur-ship Development Institute, Chennai. She joined the course and was happy that it was a free course. She attended the training eagerly with full inter-est and dedication. She com-pleted her course successfully and got the certificate from

NIMSME.

PRESENT STATUS

After the course completion,

she started artificial jewellery

business at home with an in-

vestment of Rs.25000 and sell-

ing jewels to fancy shops and

to her neighbours. Her hus-

band supports her in the busi-

ness. She is getting an income

of Rs.3000 per month and it is

helpful to her family. She

EDI conducted an awareness

program on ‘Student Project

Design’ (a scheme implemented

by National Institute of Design,

Ahmedabed) , on 15th December

2016 at IITD&M, Kanchi Insti-

tute. Around 22 faculty members

from 12 Engineering College

participated in this one day pro-

gram

EDI had organized NEEDS EDP training from 21.11.2016 to

24.12.2016 at EDI campus. the course was attended by 20 participants

from various industry.

EDI, NEN and Sona

College Hub conducted a Fac-ulty Development programmes

(FDP) under the IEDP Pro-gramme during 22-24, Dec

2016 at Sona College of Tech-nology, Salem. This pro-gramme was attended by 27

participants from 12 colleges. Smt Shajeevana, Addl. Direc-

tor EDI inaugurated the pro-gramme on 22 Dec, 2016.

Prof Sampath Kumar, Hub Coordinator, Sona College coordinated the programme

and handled technical ses-sions.As part of the training

the participants visited Annai Motors & Hallow Brick mak-

ing unit on 23 Dec 2016.

The first 2-day E-Leader Workshop was held during 19-20,

Dec. 2016 at SASTRA University Hub, where in 48 student E-Cell leaders from 22 colleges were provided hands on training by Prof.

Velavan and Prof.Vijay Anand. This programme was coordinated by Dr. Badrinath, Dean, Sastra University.

"EDI, conducted a workshop on 29th De-

cember 2016 to explore the possible solutions

for the problems faced by Rice Mill Units in

Tamil Nadu in disposal of ‘Ash’ generated by

burning rice husk. Rice Mill cluster members

from Red Hills, Tindivanam, Chinasalem, Ti-

runvelveli, Pudhuvoil, Thajavore, Kangeyam

attended the meeting, Public involved in sale of

silica also participated. TANSTIA and Federa-

tion of Tamil Nadu Rice Mill Owners, Paddy

and Rice Traders Association were involved in

this workshop.
