SUPPORTING AN AGEING WORKFORCE

As part of the Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship John helped to manage website content and develop several digital marketing campaigns.

“The idea of taking on an Apprentice was a great advantage to us, as we were able to mould John into the shape of our business and grow our digital presence as a result.” Lesley Langford, Grayson Design & Print

“The relationship we have with Skills Training UK has gone from strength to strength. They know exactly what we are looking for and understand the aims of our business. Hiring a Digital Marketing Apprentice was a great opportunity for us to grow and develop our online presence.” Neil Smith, General Manager at GB Inspection Systems Ltd

NDT Apprenticeships have supported Sheffield Forgemaster’s forward-thinking strategy to recruit younger employees and secure a sustainable future for the industry.

£25,000 saved in the first year by changing the way silos are drained and emptied of waste material – resulting in less spillage and fewer halts to production and saving staff more than an hour in production time.

“We wanted to create a workforce culture that encourages continuous improvement. Skills Training UK have fully immersed themselves into our business and have been the partner of choice.” Nigel Taylor, Machine Shop Supervisor, Flowserve

Improvement projects supported the trust to achieve ‘Good’ rating at latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection

“I’ve worked for the NHS for 36 years, and have previously run projects off of enthusiasm and passion. The training provided the systems, tools and procedures so that I can bring structure to that enthusiasm, which will make it easier to evaluate the difference we are making to patients.”

Carol Rogers, Occupational Therapist at Witham Court, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Improvements to the factory floor have saved more than nine hours of labour time.

“The training has given our employees the opportunity to work on new projects, form relationships around the business and walk away with a formal qualification, as well as supporting manufacturing excellence and driving real business improvements.” Denise Spencer, HR Business Partner at Ethypharm

IMPROVING QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE

Bespoke business administration, management and team leader training has allowed managers to grow in confidence, develop new ways of thinking and manage their teams more effectively.

“The Apprenticeships dovetailed with our business objectives and in partnership with the trainer assessors we were able to create a bespoke programme that was directly relevant to our workforce – which has led to big improvements and real benefits.” Training Manager, Nick Venn, The Bristol Port Company

Employees have benefited by learning about different leadership styles and communication techniques for managing their work colleagues.

“The Team Leader course has helped our staff think about what they’re doing and how they’re doing it, as well as helping them to understand the business as a whole and how it’s run.” Simon Sesay, Continuous Improvement Manager, Church & Dwight UK

Staff members who have taken part in the Level 2 Team Leader and Level 3 Management Apprenticeships now understand the organisational techniques they need for themselves and the teams they lead.

“My organisational skills have improved a lot, not only in my workstation but also when I’m organising people. I’m a lot more aware of the placement of machinery and how that can be changed to increase efficiency.” Jeff Glover, Line Leader, Lindab Ltd
