    tillSOnburg centreFanshawe College, Oxford County oers a range of college services at its two campuses:the Woodstock Campus and the Tillsonburg Centre. Services include certicate and diplomaprograms, academic upgrading, apprenticeship opportunities, continuing education and customizedcorporate training for business and industry. Also oered are career and employment preparationand counseling services.

    The Woodstock Campus is situated on 50 acres of beautifully landscaped property, convenientlylocated at the forks of Highways 401 and 403. The campus is part of the Woodstock DistrictCommunity Complex which also houses the Go Community Hall, a gymnastics centre, twoarenas, a gure skating club, day care and food services. Adjacent to the College is the site of the

    new Woodstock General Hospital.

    The Tillsonburg Centre is located at the Livingston Centre, a multi-use facil ity that oers one-stopshopping for employment, career and life-skills services. This thriving and progressive communityof 16,000 is located 15 minutes south of Highway 401 on Highway 19. Close to the recreationalarea of Ontarios South Coast, Tillsonburg is home to a number of national and internationalcompanies and oers a delightful mix of downtown heritage buildings and storefronts as well asa modern mall, big box centre and a large community centre complex/water park.

    HeAting, refrigerAtiOn And AircOnditiOning tecHniciAn a two-year Ontario College Diploma program (oered in Woodstock). Students

    develop skills in welding, sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, rerigeration and airconditioning trades. Skills will be developed to prepare or a career designing,

    testing, manuacturing, installing and servicing mechanical heating and cooling

    equipment. This program is recommended or those interested in an apprenticeship

    with a mechanical contractor or a position in the sales and service sector providing

    technical support. Graduates are eligible to write the Gas Technician III and Gas

    Technician II certifcation exams.

    PerSOnAl SuPPOrt WOrker this one-year Ontario College Certifcate program is completed in 30-weeks and

    is oered in London, Simcoe, St. Thomas and Tillsonburg. As a personal support

    worker, you will observe and respond to the needs o clients in long-term care

    acilities, retirement homes, in home-care and hospital settings. You will assist

    people with the tasks o daily living, help make them comortable and keep them

    sae. This program is also available on a part-time basis in London and may be in

    other locations, depending on demand.

    POlice fOundAtiOnS (AccelerAted) an accelerated Ontario College Diploma program (oered in Woodstock). I

    youre interested in public law enorcement or in a career as a police ofcer, this

    program oers excellent pre-employment training. Youll study the theory o human

    relations, combined with law enorcement, police powers, community policing and

    investigation. The program will prepare you to compete within the Ontario Constable

    Selection System or employment in public law enorcement and related careers.

    PrActicAl nurSing a two-year Ontario College Diploma program leading to a career as a Practical

    Nurse. The humanistic, caring curriculum provides you with the knowledge and

    theoretical oundations needed to provide care to clients o all ages. Nursing skills

    will be learned and practiced in our simulated nursing laboratory, then ollowed by a

    wide variety o supervised clinical placements. Graduates will work as independent

    health care providers in various settings rom community, hospitals, and long-term

    care acilities to physicians ofces, schools and mental health programs. Oered in

    London and Woodstock.

    Welding tecHniqueS a one-year Ontario College Certifcate program. Two semesters on campus and

    a mandatory work placement provides the theoretical and practical training to

    perorm most basic welding techniques. Students will be exposed to topics including

    health and saety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication,

    shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and

    all position pipe welding. At the completion o the program, students will be eligible

    to test or welding tickets based on their level o expertise. Career opportunities

    include: Welder, Welder Fitter Trainee, Apprentice Welder, Apprentice Boilermaker,

    Apprentice Construction Millwright, Apprentice Industrial Mechanic/Millwright,

    Apprentice Ironworker, Apprentice P ipeftter.

    buSineSS fOundAtiOnS a one-year Ontario College Certifcate program (oered in Woodstock) designed

    to build undamental business skills. With small classes, this program is ideal

    or students who need to strengthen math or other oundational skills beoreentering a two-year business diploma program, mature students who are preparing

    to re-enter the workorce, and international students who would beneft rom a

    customized curriculum. Students will take courses in customer service and business

    communication, while improving computer and math skills. As the second semester

    o Business Foundations is identical to the common frst semester shared by all

    two-year diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School o Business, graduates

    may choose to transer directly into Level Two o any diploma program or enter the

    workorce in the retail or service sectors.

    cHild And yOutH WOrker is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program (oered in London

    and Woodstock). Not all youth make it through childhood and adolescence with

    success. As a child and youth worker, you can make a dierence by providing care

    and treatment or troubled children, adolescents and their amilies. Courses include:

    child growth and development, child welare legislation, case management, amily

    issues, as well as art and play therapy. Graduates work in group homes, correctional

    services, residential treatment centres, childrens aid societies, boards o education,

    and hospitals. This program is oered ull-time, with some part-time seats

    available, as well as support or part-time studies in Continuing Education.

    cOMPuter APPlicAtiOnS AndbuSineSS dOcuMentAtiOn

    (AccelerAted) this one-year Ontario College Certifcate multiple-intake program (oered in

    Woodstock) is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to become a

    certifed Microsot Ofce User Specialist. Also included are components pertaining

    to hardware, operating systems, networks, emerging technologies, digital media and

    more. In the Business Documentation course, students will have the opportunity to

    choose between three streams: General Ofce, Medical or Logistics. Graduates will

    be able to start a career as an accounting clerk, customer service representative,

    administrative assistant, as an assistant in an IT department the possibilities

    are endless.

    HAir StyliSta 48-week Ontario College Diploma program (oered in Woodstock). Learn allthe skills you need to become a proessional hair stylist in less than one year. You

    will complete all o the classroom hours necessary to obtain your trade certifcate.

    Graduates are ready to work in a hair salon or spa or, once your apprenticeship

    practical hours are complete, even start your own business! This program has a

    September and January intake.

    reSidentiAl Air cOnditiOningSySteMS MecHAnic(blOck releASe And PArt-tiMe eveningS)

    - this program is well-suited or students who enjoy a hands-on approach to

    learning about the air conditioning industry. Residential and air conditioning system

    mechanics plan, prepare, and lay out the system, as well as install, start, and veriy

    its operation and unction. You will work on installation and connection o pipe or

    the purpose o conveying all types o cooling rerigerant. As well, you will maintain,service, test, repair, and replace system components and accessories, including the

    electrical and electronic components.

    Apprenticeship progrAmsApprenticeship programs require an employer/sponsor. The employermust register the apprentice with the Ministry of Training, Collegesand Universities at 217 York St., Suite 201, London, Ontario, N6A 5P9,519-675-7788. A typical apprentice might require 600 to 700 hours ofclassroom time (an eight or ten week block of time each year for threeyears). This format is called block release.

    HAirStyliSt(WOOdStOck cAMPuS - PArt-tiMe eveningS)

    the Hairstylist program is designed to give the students the skills necessary to

    become proessional hair stylists. Graduates o the program will have completed all

    o the classroom hours necessary or their trade certifcate. Graduates can expect to

    gain employment in hair salons, spas and/or start their own business on completion

    o their apprenticeship practical hours.

    *The minimum requirements for admission to all post-secondary programs is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (U/C) or Open (O) stream orequivalent or mature student with the stated academic requirements.     o Human Resources Management, including; labour relations, economics,

    general management. Courses are recognized as credit toward the Certifed HumanResources Proessional designation oered by the Human Resource Proessional

    as receptionists, clerks, secretaries and support sta personnel. This program isoered during the day or evening.

    fOOd Service WOrker this Ontario College Certifcate program is designed to provide graduates with the

    knowledge and skills needed to perorm eectively in institutional ood preparation

    settings in commercial or long term care acilities. Emphasis is given during the

    academic portion o the program to ood preparation, service, nutrition and sanitary

    practices in the workplace. This program meets the requirements set by the

    Ministry o Health and Long Term Care.

    fundAMentAlS Of AddictiOnS this Ontario College Certifcate program provides a specifc ocus on the

    knowledge, skills and techniques that are undamental in the addictions feld. It

    is intended or those individuals wishing to urther advance knowledge o current

    developments in the feld. Delivery is well suited to individuals currently employed

    or entering employment in an addictions related work environment.

    gAS tecHniciAn - ii And iii are oered in a ast-track mode at the Woodstock Campus. The course o study

    meets the Technical Standards and Saety Authority (TSSA) requirements or

    certifcation. Once you have completed all the courses in the program you can apply

    to TSSA or certifcation.

    Continuing EducationFanshawe College, Oxord County oers part-time certifcate programs and credits toward proessional designations. There
