Term 4 – Week 8 28th November 2014
Dear Parents & Caregivers
Thank you to all the P&C members who attended
Wednesday nights P&C meeting. There were many
things to organise leading up to the end of year and
this was all done extremely efficiently and in good
humour.
It is a very hectic time, in a positive way, at this time of
the school year and we are looking forward to finishing
the year on a high.
Regards Principal \
RETIREMENT Sadly we have two staff members retiring at the end of 2014, Mrs Hill who assists students with reading for half a day a week and Mrs Braithwaite who has been the cornerstone of Wongarbon Public School for many, many years and has had a significant impact on so many children over that time be it in Library, Science or Computer Technology. We wish them both the very best of times in retirement as they certainly deserve it. More to come in future newsletters.
SWIMMING BEGINS WITH A SPLASlt Thank you to everyone for returning notes and money for the School Swimming Scheme which commences next MONDAY, December 1. Please read carefully the attached note which gives details of what to bring and the starting groups.
A great big Wongarbon welcome to our

YEAR 6 GRADUATION /SCHOOL SOCIAL On Tuesday, December 9 at 6pm the parents and students of Year 5 will be hosting the Year 6 Graduation Dinner for 2014. Thank you to the Year 5 parents who attended the meeting last Tuesday to organise the menu and catering details. In particular thank you to Kelly Hinchcliffe who has been chosen as coordinator and will be contacting Year 5 parents as to what they are to provide in order to make this a very special evening for Sam, Harley and James (our Year 6 boys). Following the Graduation Dinner the SRC will hold a School Social from 7pm until 8pm. The theme is “A HAT”. We ask that children attending the social wear a hat – the crazier or more creative the better. We do also ask each family to provide a plate of food for supper.
Photographs of students may be published in the school newsletter and the local media. If you do not wish to have your child’s photo appear in these publications please notify the school.
SPECIAL TIMES Each child should have taken home a letter addressed to their parents today. If you have not received this VERY IMPORTANT letter then please ring Michelle, our Administration Manager, at the school office to discover its contents. This is very important leading up to the end of the school year, so please read the letters or contact Mrs Dunn.
YEAR 6 TO 7 ORIENTATION Next Wednesday most of our Year Six students will be attending their respective high schools for their Year 7 Orientation Day. I trust they will get a good glimpse as to what their secondary school has to offer and represent us with the pride, dignity and manners as we would expect.
P&C CHRISTMAS HAMPER Donations are being collected ready for the Presentation Night raffle. Please send in your items to the office before Friday, December 12. Item ideas are non‐perishable food, new items, handmade items. Please no second hand items.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL Our senior SRC members had their final 2014 video conference with other small schools on Wednesday. The SRC members from all the small schools have agreed to have video conferences again next year, twice a term.
Come to Playgroup and meet others in a relaxed and friendly environment. A Playgroup is a place for you and your children aged 0‐6 to have fun, make new friends and develop skills through play.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS – School Swimming Scheme 2014
Dear Parents/Caregivers
The School Swimming Scheme commences on MONDAY, December 1at the Geurie Pool and concludes FRIDAY, December 12.
Children participating in the program need to bring:
SWIMMERS
TOWEL
SUNSCREEN
Please send these in a plastic bag with your child’s name on everything including their school uniform, socks, shoes etc… It’s amazing what gets lost. It is also a good idea to bring jumpers to school as children can get cold afterwards and to pack EXTRA FOOD as swimming can make them very hungry.
Thank you
