QUARTERLY NMMN NEWSLETTER SPRING-2013 PAGE 1 Not long ago my friend Tina decided to refinish a beat up old cabinet similar to the one on the bottom of this page. Her chosen workspace for this effort was my garage. (For those of you who have commented on the oil stain in front of the garage...it’s not oil!) I watched the process of renewal with interest. First, Tina gathered all the supplies necessary. She returned from a trip to LOWES with a sander, a variety of sandpaper, wood filler, wood treatment and a can of black semi-gloss stain. (For a lovely faux oil stain, apply liberally to driveway.) With supplies carefully selected and purchased, Tina began her restorative work. She took very few breaks and was careful and deliberate in each phase of the process. After three full days, she invited me to view her handiwork. The cabinet had been transformed! The National Women’s Ministries Theme for 2013 is REDEEMED! I’ve been thinking about the theme as I remember Tina’s project. She intentionally paid for something unattractive, unusable and unwanted, then poured even more of her resources into a long, labor-intensive restoration process. Why did she do it? I could tell when she introduced me to her “new” cabinet. It was filled with books, electronics and meaningful knick-knacks. The reclaimed furniture was now living up to the purpose its original builder had in mind. This story is rather obvious isn’t it? Jesus finds great value in people that others would throw away. He searches for, and at great personal cost, invests in those individuals. His greatest hope is that each might be changed in order to reach their intended potential. Jesus Christ paid the price required to buy each one of us and keep us from the junk pile. Additionally, we have become made new and repurposed by the stain of his blood. Tina was not truly happy with the refinished cabinet until she saw that it contained everything that she had envisioned it would. It was an interesting process to watch. I can never fully understand how the whole thing felt to Tina. To her it was deeply personal. For me as a mere onlooker (and as Christians, some of us are just that), all I got out of it was a good story... ...and a black stain in front of the garage! Not long ago my friend Tina decided to refinish a beat up old cabinet similar to the one on the bottom of this page. Her chosen workspace for this effort was my garage. (For those of you who have commented on the oil stain in front of the garage...it’s not oil!)

I watched the process of renewal with interest. First, Tina gathered all the supplies necessary. She returned from a trip to LOWES with a sander, a variety of sandpaper, wood filler, wood treatment and a can of black semi-gloss stain. (For a lovely faux oil stain, apply liberally to driveway.)

With supplies carefully selected and purchased, Tina began her restorative work.

A QUARTERLY REPORT is just another opportunity to share your Women’s Ministries events and activities. Let us know what you’re doing and tell me about creative and exciting events.

Each local group is encouraged to send tithe on all money received by offerings or earned through projects. These tithes are an essential part of the Network-wide outreach of Women’s Ministries. Funds go to scholarships, resources for women, operating expenses and future events such as Women’s conference and missions trips.

Less than 20% of our New Mexico Ministry Network Women’s groups send a tithe to the Network Office; that means that in spite of the faithfulness of the few, we are limited by the absence of the many.

Options for reporting:

Simply fill out a Quarterly Report form and mail it to the Network Office.OR...

Online Reporting is EASY! Go to nmministry.net and click Network Ministries, then Women’s Ministries tab. At the bottom of the Women’s Ministries webpage you will click on “Quarterly Report Form.” There is also a tab with “Quarterly Report Instructions” should you need some help.
