May 21st Panelist: Hildy Shandell (COO, Numecent - $14 Million Funded 2013 & Former VC)

Hildy Shandell has over two decades of success working with private and public technology companies in a multitude of operating,

strategic, transactional and investing roles. She has worked with Numecent as our Chief Operating Officer since November of 2010.

Previously, Hildy was a Venture Partner with Opus Capital, a $1 billion early stage venture capital fund, where she sourced and

evaluated investment opportunities in multiple enterprise and consumer markets. She has also advised start-ups on business and go-

to-market strategy, potential strategic alliances and financial/operational infrastructure.

Previously, Hildy was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Genesis Microchip, where she was instrumental in the sale of

the company to STMicroelectronics at a 65% premium to market, the largest industry premium in recent years. While at Genesis, she

accelerated new product launches through a technology licensing program and designed an acquisition strategy to strengthen the

company's portfolio of differentiated technology. Prior to Genesis, Ms. Shandell was Vice President of Corporate Development at

Broadcom. In that role, she completed close to $300 million of acquisitions which achieved 80% of the targeted sources of value and

95% retention of key talent.

Before joining Broadcom, Hildy was Chief Operating Officer of 3Dlabs, having been promoted from CFO, to lead global operations. Prior

roles included Managing Director of the Renaissance Fund, a $150 million private equity fund, and partner at two major international

law firms.

Women In Tech Network contributed to Book: Women Change The World (May 2014) by Michelle Patterson (President and CEO) Marina Lee, CEO & Founder of Women In Tech Network is feature as one of 40 Powerful Women in this book. Maria Shriver put California Women’s Conference on the map - The California Women’s Conference Keynote 2014: Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post

This year, they are bringing together the CEOs from some of the top blogs in the world on one stage: EmpowHER, BlogHer, DailyWorth, and Huffington Post with Women Network bringing them together. Collectively, these media sites reach over 100 million people!

The conference driven by women’s issues that brought actresses Marcia Cross and Tippi Hedren and other celebrities to Long Beach will return next spring. The California Women’s Conference, which normally took place in the fall, will be on May 20 and 21 in

conjunction with Women Network Day, which “celebrates women supporting women and giving back to one another,” said Michelle Patterson, Women Network president and CEO. ”We are taking a moment and creating a movement!” Patterson said in an

announcement Monday.

“For nearly 30 years, the California Women’s Conference women have provided a forum for building successful businesses and positively influencing the world around them, hosting such influential personalities as Oprah Winfrey, Goldie Hawn, and First Lady

Michelle Obama.”

This will be Patterson’s second year conference, which is inspired by the women’s event that started nearly 30 years ago under Long Beach resident and former Gov. George Deukmejian and his wife, Gloria Deukmejian. That conference continued under the

Governor’s Office and was made popular under former state first

lady Maria Shriver.

The conference was discontinued after Gov. Jerry Brown took office and first lady Anne Gust Brown expressed interest in focusing on California’s budget issues.
