An App for Woking’s Canal Quarter

1

The purpose of my app is to advertise the

places that you can go in Woking.

I aim to give each page a simplistic look and

also write some information about the

attractions.

I plan to achieve this by researching about

the attractions and also for each page, I will

outline the main focus to make each object

stand out and so that the viewers can

understand clearly what the image is

supposed to be.

Design: An App for Woking’s Canal Quarter

This image is a detailed outline of a flower and this inspired me to experiment with the surrounding nature in Woking. I intend to produce a detailed image in the style of this image and possibly add some colour to the image.

This image has inspired me because I like the way the artist has used watercolour and also let each colour bleed into each other. I intend to create and image of an animal using the same techniques used in this image, and I also will outline the image to make it stand out.

feel to the piece. I intend to create a piece which includes aspects of both nature and man- made objects, using a similar colour palette as to the image above.

This image has inspired me because of the way that the artist has only used a few colours to create this piece, giving it a minimalistic

The image above is the first page for my app. I decided to draw a flower to show the nature in Woking, and I used those colours specifically to represent an area in the Lightbox where these colours were found. I think that the composition works well because it shows some aspects that can be found in Woking.

The image above is the second page for my app. I decided to draw the outline of a duck because I intended to create an image of an animal inspired by the image shown to the right. I also wanted to add some features of the WWF HQ, so I decided to create a pattern using the ceiling structure in the WWF HQ. I chose to do the background in one colour to give the composition a minimalistic feel to it.

The image above is the final page of my app. I decided to create this composition as it shows both nature and man-made objects. I intended to create a minimalistic approach by using watercolours and leaving some areas white. I think that because I didn’t outline the image, it creates a sense of gentleness in the image which could show Woking is a calm area to be.

The style of text that I plan to use is called Cooper Std and make it size 58 to make it stand out. The font I will use looks like the following:

Welcome to

Woking

I decided to use these colours in my images because I wanted to use neutral colours to represent the nature in my compositions. I also used the reds and oranges as they were to represent the man-made objects as most man-made objects stand out
