23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Every family has good inten ons of becoming be er, closer, more caring and more loving. Children will follow the example of their
parents and older siblings, so spending me together and doing great things helps build character and reinforce values. But, good inten ons, made in me of celebra on and leisure, are lost to the reality of busy lives and the lack of a purpose for which they were made. Who’s to no ce, anyway? Another year will pass and those resolu ons will be wai ng for us next year. But before we write o our good inten ons, we might consider a di erent kind of resolu on, one that has purpose and meaning, It requires a li le planning, some me and a bit of e ort. But it promises lots of rewards, a sense of gra ca on and a good night’s sleep. Let’s consider service. How many mes do we get a request for volunteers? How o en does the pastor men on something that could use our e orts, or people who are looking for aid? So many people need help, especially some who live in our parish and in our neighborhood. Why not volunteer as a family? Sign up to deliver meals, or visit the nursing home. Tutor someone in reading or math. Help with a community project or work with Habitat for Humanity. Write le ers, serve meals, or help a senior ci zen in need. You’ll nd a resolu on you’ll love to keep!
