We have officially kicked off the Called to Serve as Christ campaign at our parish. Archbishop Etienne is asking all of us to think about an extraordinary gift to the goals for this campaign. Campaign priorities include: Strengthening our priest retirement and medical plans. Supporting our women religious. Assisting our parishes. Our parish goal is $1.773M over a three-year pledge period. That is 1.25 times an average taken of three years of offertory at the beginning of the campaign. With our generous parishioners, this is VERY attainable. With this goal it is important to remember: On every dollar we raise and is paid to the archdiocese, our parish will receive 15 cents back for our needs. On every dollar we raise and pay to the archdiocese over goal, our parish will receive 85 cents back. We understand that COVID-19 continues to affect the normal course of liturgical, social, operational, and financial life in our parish. But the needs of the Church remain, as does the responsibility to meet them. We have a financial and pastoral obligation to care for those men and women who have faithfully served our people and parishes. We understand that some may not be in a position to give at the level they normally would and others not at all, but the archbishop feels it is important to give everyone the same opportunity to hear the message of the campaign and prayerfully consider their level of participation. If you have not already received a letter from Archbishop Etienne with detailed campaign information, you will soon. A volunteer team made up of your fellow parishioners will be following up with many of you to visit about the campaign. I encourage you to receive their calls warmly; that you give them your time and your thoughts. Again, please review the letter from Archbishop Etienne, the campaign materials, pray about your response and continue to spread a positive message about this important effort. Everyone can do something – even if it’s praying for the success of our effort.

Dear Friends, You should have already—or will soon have—received a packet in the mail from Archbishop Etienne, introducing you to the Called to Serve as Christ Campaign, which kicks off here at Mary, Queen of Peace this weekend. (If you don’t receive a packet, please let us know so that we can make sure that we have the correct mailing address for you.) This campaign was initiated by Archbishop Sartain in 2017, and has been administered in different phases and waves in the past three years. MQP is part of the final wave of 70 parishes and missions this fall. The campaign’s overall goal is to raise $100 million across the Archdiocese, in order to support three important areas:

Strengthening our archdiocese’s senior priest retirement and medical

plans; Supporting the retirement and medical plans of women’s religious

communities who have served in our archdiocese for decades; Providing financial support to parishes. Our parish goal here at MQP is $1.77 million. This is an extraordinary goal for our parish and for the archdiocese as a whole. Please know that Archbishop Etienne understands that this might not be a good time for you to make a pledge, given the current financial uncertainties. Also, please note that this is not a one-time gift, but that your pledge can be fulfilled over a several-year period, and that there are a variety of ways that your gift can be made. MQP will receive back 15% of whatever amount we raise. Given our campaign goal, we have the potential to receive a rebate of $256,000 (or more), which will go toward paying for our roof (finished in summer 2019) and skylight replacements (due to delays related to the pandemic, now scheduled for spring/summer 2021). Paying off this debt early will be very helpful in us having more funds available for the important ministries of our parish. Carol Morgan, a long-time parishioner and current member of the Parish Finance Council, is serving as our parish campaign chair. She is leading a group of over 25 parishioners who have volunteered to help with this campaign. You will be hearing more from Carol and other volunteers during the campaign, which concludes on October 11th. Thank you to Carol and all the volunteers—as well as all of you for considering making a gift to this important campaign! In addition to the packet you receive in the mail, you can find more information at: www.calledtoserveaschrist.org https://bit.ly/32Volh3

Stewardship is not optional! “None of us lives as his own master and none of us dies as his own master,” says St. Paul. “While we live, we are responsible to the Lord, and when we die, we die as His servants.”

Bloodworks Northwest will have a pop-up center at MQP for the month of September. The dates and times are as-follows: Monday the 28th, 10 to 5, Wednesday the 30th, 9 to 5, Friday the 2nd, 9 to 5, Monday the 5th, 9 to 5, Wednesday the 7th, 9 to 5, Friday the 9th, 9 to 5. Email: [email protected] to sign up!

We are planning a virtual auction this year, on October 16th. While we won’t be gathering for our traditional auction, we are planning options for a box dinner, and you will still have the chance to tune in, and help to raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul’s efforts to provide rent and utility assistance for people who are struggling to make ends meet at this time. We will also raise funds for important parish programs such as our Sister Parish committee, and many others.

We are building a list of live items. Vacation Homes in the Northwest will be in great demand this year. Supporting a local restaurant by providing a gift card would be another great way to help our auction. Plan on tuning in on October 16th, and write Rich at: [email protected] should you have a live or silent item you wish to donate.
