Library goals

• developing a library that supports the IB curriculum from PYP to DP

• promoting a love of reading within the WISS community

Library promotion• New Library opened on Feb 14th 2011.• Regular magazine and newsletter articles.• Author visits – 5 major author visits this year including Author/illustrator Alison Lester in residence.• 2 different Book clubs this year and a 2 day Book Fair

during Book Week.• Collaborative teaching opportunities.

Patrons & Circulation

• Students – 363 (30% increase, includes departed students)

• Faculty – 105 • Parents – 50 (more than double last year)• Circulation – 52,902 loans (31,7601 to

Faculty)

Collection Development

• The collection has grown 23% to 20,200 titles (30,050 copies);

• Growth areas have centered around Magazines & newspapers; Parent & Adult collections, and the Foreign Language collections;

• Secondary textbooks and PYP Home readers are now all catalogued.

Electronic Databases

• Britannica Online & Global Reference Centre, Brain Pop, Book Flix and Teen Health & Wellness have been introduced this year;

• Questia High School database will be added in August 2011;

• Other databases such as Green R, Turnitin and Newsbank are under consideration

Future plans

• Introduction of online Library flexible scheduling in August 2011 to cater for larger patron base and make more effective use of the bigger space;

• Great involvement of Head Librarian in planning collaboratively across the whole school
