Purpose The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is hosting the WISEdata Conference 2015 at the Central Wisconsin Convention + Expo Center in Rothschild, Wisconsin on November 12 and 13.

The conference mission is to focus on presenting attendees with a better understanding of state and federal reporting requirements, including any reporting changes for 2015-16. The conference will also provide attendees with information related to the importance of internal data collections and reporting procedures.

Any individual (SEA, district and school level administrators, and any support staff) accountable for state and federal reporting related to funding, accountability, or education program management is encouraged to attend the conference. The target audience includes any individual with responsibility for collecting, maintaining, reporting, or certifying data at any levels within the school district.

Wisconsin – Telling Our Data Arts Education Story

Wisconsin has invested significant efforts into designing an accountability system that not only produces valid and reliable results, but also provides meaningful information to school and district staff, parents, and the public. Act 55, the biennial budget, requires specific changes to the way school and district report cards are calculated. This presentation will describe and preview those changes. It will also provide participants an opportunity to consider additional ways the report cards can reflect values of our educational system, acknowledging the importance of ensuring every child graduates from high school ready for college and career.

Counting Kids for Membership

Membership reporting is more than just counting the number of students in your classroom seats. A district’s membership reflects part-time students (public, private and home-schooled), open enrolled students, as well as other factors impacting who may be claimed for aid purposes. Membership is a foundational building block of school finance that includes the 3rd Friday in September, second Friday in January and Summer School student counts. Districts use the PI-1563 Pupil Count form to report their school year student numbers.

This session will introduce the audience to WISEgrants, the federal grants management program DPI will open for the 2016-17 school year. WISEgrants will require WAMS ID, and the speakers will review how end users will need to be established to access a district’s federal grant information. WISEgrants will also require districts to submit student enrollment data related to their federal grants. The speakers will review the student enrollment data and provide explanations on why the data must be submitted through WISEgrants and not pulled from other DPI data collection systems and the impact the data has on funding requirements.
