Material certificatesAdditional material inspection and testing byauthorized agencies is possible. If ordered a3.1.C-EN 10204/DIN 50049 certificate can besupplied.
FinishingOur standard sockets are delivered painted inblue or hot dipped galvanized.
StockAll our Sockets are available ex-stock, ensu-ring short-time deliveries.
Open and Closed Swage Sockets.
Swage sockets are recommended for use on 6x19 or6x37 IWRC regular lay ropes and also satisfactory on
galvanized bridge rope. They are not recommended for use on fiber core ropes.
Carbon Steel Sleeves.
Proper swaging methods must be followed.Proper swaging practices are the sling manufactures
responsibility. A color change will not indicate proberswaging.
Open and Closed Wedge Sockets.
Quick dismountable socket
range for wirerope diameter
7 - 86 mm (5/16” - 33/8”).Basket and wedge in alloy
cast teel.
Short Bow Sockets.
The “ultimate” socket for dynamic
load. Towing lines, anchor lines,
chain-rope connections used by
major offshore contractors. High
alloy cast steel with extremely
high mechanical value.
Open and Closed Spelter Sockets.
Alloy cast steel range with high
mechanical values also for
low temperature use.
For wirerope diameter
11 - 130 mm (7/16” - 5”),socket pin locked by split
or by nut. Optional flange
connection for use of a
bend stiffener.
Fast Connector Sockets.
Special designed for mobile
cranes, and can be used with
high performance rotationresistant and standard 6 strand
ropes. Fast connector sockets
have 100% efficiency. Sockets
and buttons are re-usable.

General information
- Always take care of visual inspection before
using a socket and pin.
- Never use a part showing cracks.
- Do not side load a socket.
- Repair is not allowed, for repair contactyour supplier.
- Never shockload a socket.
Spelter Sockets
- Proper spelter socket termination have an
effecienty of 100% of the breaking load ofthe wire. This can be limitated by theminimum braking load of the socket (MBL),as mentioned in the tables.
- Before use please carefully read the instructionsof the resin manufacturer. Incorrect use of theresin or spelter material can result in an unsafetermination. More information can also beobtained from your wire rope supplier.
- Always clear the wire rope broom and socketbasket from dirt and grease.
- Make certain that the broomed wires areevenly spaced in the basket, and that the wireand basket are aligned with each other.
- When using white metal or zinc, do notpreheat the socket to more then 300ºC (570ºF).
- Make sure the base of the socket is properlysealed. This to prevent resin leakage, whichmay cause voids.
- Never use an assembly before the resin is fullyhardened.
- Socketing should always be done by a qualifiedperson.
- Due to constant improvements of our products,we reserve the right to change specificationsaccordingly.

Wedge Sockets
- Always mount the loaded part of the wire in
the centre line of the pin (see figures).
- Secure the dead end with a wirerope clip.
- Do not attach the loaded wire to the deadend.
- The dead end should have a length of 6 timesthe wire diameter with a minimum of 150 mm.
- Inspect after the first load that the wire ropeand wedge are fully seated.
- Load may slip if the connection is not properlyinstalled.
- Inspect the connection regularly.
- The efficiency of a wire rope/wedge socketconnection is 80% of the minimum breakingload of the wire but limited to the minimum
breaking load of the socket (MBL).
Swage Sockets and Sleeves
- Swage sockets are recommended for use on
6x19 or 6x37 IWRC regular lay ropes. They are also satisfactory on galvanizedbridge rope. They are not recommendedfor use on fibre core or lang lay ropes.
- Proper swaging methods must be followedfor the above mentioned products.Multiple progressive pressings are requiredto prevent flash, which will develop into apermanent mark or possibly a crack in thesleeve.
- A light oil lubricant should be applied to eachdie and wiped clean after swaging.
- For swaging practice detail contact the diemanufacturer.
- Swage sockets properly applied have anefficiency rating of 100%. This rating isbased on the catalogue strength of wire rope.
- Caution: Proper swaging practices are thesling manufacturer responsibility.
