Central Pennsylvania’s First Wedding-Reality TV Show Begins Season 4!
Central Pennsylvania’s first reality TV show, Emmy nominated Dream Weddings, is airing its fourth season of spectacular weddings. What began as a dream for host Martine Cajas more than five years ago has turned into a source of dreams for brides all over Central Pennsylvania. This season, we will give away our second Dream Wedding!
Viewers will welcome the return of some favorite elements in the show: behind the scenes produc-tion meetings, design upgrades and of course…bloopers. Martine is getting so comfortable on camera that the production team sometimes fear that he’s going to become a one-take wonder….then his Spanglish takes over and the whole pro-duction team is cracking up!
Dream Weddings continues to evolve and will unveil some new surprises this season…but you’ll have to tune in to see for yourself! Check WGAL’s listings for exact times and dates.
One thing that won’t change is our belief in the professionals who live and work in South Central Pennsylvania. Their work and creativity is what drives the premise of the show.

sparkle all the more). Speaking of invitations, if you're planning a hol-iday wedding, it's critical to get those Save the Date cards into the mail as soon as possible before friends and family begin making other holiday plans.
If a winter wedding is in your fu-ture, take advantage of the bridal shows that begin to dot the calendar immediately after New Years and continue into the spring. A bridal show will provide you with the op-portunity to meet vendors, gather ideas, learn about the newest trends, attend a fashion show, taste food and cake and win some very nice prizes. We've included a list of up-coming shows in this issue, plus our new timeline and checklist pages will help you stay on schedule.
See you in your dreams!
Winter weddings are wonder-ful. Thanks to the built-in holidays such as Christmas, New Years, Mar-di Gras and Valentines Day, a win-ter wedding can celebrate everything from family to fun to romance. On the other hand, if a garden or trop-ical paradise wedding is your dream, I'm sure your guests wouldn't mind escaping to warmer climes. Winter is a perfect time for destination wed-dings.
I know as you're reading this, you are probably envisioning last year's winter weather and are thinking, "Are you crazy!" My advice is to think positive. And hire a wedding plan-ner. Venues and vendors are more available and flexible during the winter months. For example, winter is an opportune time to hold a grand hotel wedding. Everything - cocktail party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception - can be held in the confines of the hotel. The brid-al party will more than likely spend the weekend at the hotel, as will your out-of-town guests, making trav-eling in snow and ice a nonissue. And, with the hotel handling cru-
cial elements such as catering, who cares if it snows? It will only add to the fun and ambiance! However, if events are scheduled at a number of locations a wedding planner will be able to help you make alternate plans in case the weather takes a turn for the worst.
Fashionistas will absolutely love what a winter wedding can entail. If you love glitz and sparkle, a winter gown allows you to go all out. If you love lace, a winter gown enables you to wrap yourself in it from head to toe. If you love the metallic look, sil-ver or platinum is perfectly fine for a winter wedding gown. After all, why do when you can overdo! That is certainly evident in the gowns that were provided for our feature arti-cle by Cocoa Couture! Winter also enables you to add dramatic effects such as long gloves (the only season they really make sense), fur (faux, of course) scarves and jackets and jew-elry. Want more drama? Back treat-ments are becoming a huge trend in gowns.
Props can really add to the wow factor where winter wedding pho-tography is concerned. Think fun boots, a sleigh, ice skates, whimsical signage, etc. Here's where you pray for snow: it provides a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
Winter also lends itself to dark, dramatic colors or subdued tones such as silver and white (which you can enliven with pops of color). Whatever your preference, carry the hues throughout your event, start-ing with the invitation and continu-ing with the decor, linens and even the cake (which, like dresses, can

One of the latest trends in wedding planning is that there are no rules! Brides are planning the Dream Wedding that works best for them. This often includes des-tination weddings with a local celebration for friends and family that can’t travel. This style is especially popular during the winter months! Rachael and Shawn planned a glam-orous local celebration at WHYY in Philadel-phia (this page) for all their friends and family that could not make it to Riviera Maya the fol-lowing month for their tropical nuptials (see next page). HOMETOWNS: Rachael is from Willow Street, PA and Shawn is from Frank-lin, VT. OCCUPATIONS: Rachael works in business development and Shawn is the owner of SoCal PF. HOW THEY MET: They met each other competing in the Tough Mudder obstacle race. FIRST DATE: Their first date was to Avalon, NJ in August of 2012. HOW/WHERE HE PROPOSED: Knowing how close Rachael is to her mother; Shawn first
asked her permission to marry her daughter. Shawn then proposed to Rachael at the Phil-adelphia Museum of Art on January 5, 2013. WEDDING STYLE/THEME: Their vision was to turn this space into pure elegance and glamour. Rachael wanted everything to be modern, elegant, clean, and sophisticat-ed with a “Sex and the City” vibe. Thanks to Martine Cajas and local Lancaster vendors, the bride and groom thought the venue and evening were an absolute dream! COL-OR SCHEME: Lots of soft pinks and clean whites with a pop of grey to bring their vision of glamour to life. CAKE DESCRIPTION: Rachael and Shawn went without a cake and opted instead for a candy bar created by Mar-tine Cajas and House of Clarendon to serve as the focal point for the venue. FAVORITE WEDDING MEMORY: The couple loved having their closest friends and family all in one location. It was an outpouring of love and memories to last a lifetime.

Three months after Ra-chael and Shawn’s glamorous celebration in Philadelphia (see previous page), they travelled abroad to warm and sunny Riv-iera Maya for their destination wedding. Since there are really no rules to modern wedding planning, the wedding abroad and local celebration can also take place in any order, depending on what works best for the bride and groom, and the venues. Rachael and Shawn were able to celebrate with their loved ones AND have their Dream Wedding abroad! RECEPTION LOCATION: Poolside at Tucanas Bar at the El Dorado Royale. WEDDING STYLE/THEME: In Riviera Maya, the couple chose to go with a relaxed theme to highlight the natural beauty and colors of the surrounding nature and ocean. COLOR SCHEME: Bright
fuchsia and tan. FLOWER CHOICES: Cream and blush colored quicksand roses mixed with white peonies. CAKE DE-SCRIPTION: The couple chose a simple and elegant round two-tiered, champagne and chocolate cake with a blush peony on the top layer. Unfortunately, the cake did not last long. After cutting the cake, Shawn threw it into the pool, creating a hilari-ous memory and picture for the bride and groom that they consider well worth the hefty fine! SONG/ MUSIC FOR FIRST DANCE: All of Me by John Legend. Rachael got teary eyed when she first heard the song since the lyrics are so true to their relation-ship. FAVORITE WEDDING MEMO-RY: Shawn throwing the cake into the pool after it was cut! HONEYMOON: Can-cun, Mexico.
