1415WJTNF001-003 Winnipeg Jets Gala The Winnipeg Jets Gala Dinner is a unique event for hockey enthusiasts and Foundation friends. Last year, the Winnipeg Jets Gala Dinner raised close to $300,000 net; helping us expand our Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy program to over 530 student athletes, pilot the Project 11 curriculum in classrooms, support local children’s charities and enter into an operating lease of Camp Manitou, which gives us the opportunity to extend our mandate and develop a camp program that serves our youth 12 months of the year. The Winnipeg Jets Gala Dinner attracts professionals and corporations from both the private and public sectors. In 2014, the Foundation anticipates to sell out the event with over 900 people in attendance at the MTS Centre. What makes the dinner unique is the opportunity to mingle with Winnipeg Jets players and coaches while partaking in a 4 course meal and being entertained throughout the evening. The event includes live and silent auctions with once-in-a-lifetime Winnipeg Jets experiences.

What do our supporters have to say?

“The feeling of belonging in the hockey community is about more than just the sport – it’s about helping drive social prosperity in the communities in which we live. This is our belief and that is why we support the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation in their efforts to provide continuing financial, volunteer and programming support for Manitoba communities in which they work and play. The heart of their efforts is in developing and operating programs that support underserved youth like the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, Project 11 and Camp Manitou. At Scotiabank the heart of our hockey sponsorship program is in our communities and happens organically because of the passionate personal involvement of our Scotiabankers; they are fans, parents, coaches and even players.”

How the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation ignites potential in Manitoban youth?

The Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation focuses its efforts on providing support to the children of the community so they may lead quality lives and develop into contributing members of society.

The organization was established in October of 1996 as the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation. With the acquisition of an NHL franchise in 2011, the Foundation has been renamed the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and is tasked with the responsibility and privilege of continuing financial, volunteer and programming support in accordance with its desire to have a larger positive impact on the community. The Foundation dedicates resources to assist registered youth charities within our community who focus on developing and operating programs that support underserved youth.

Through two strong and continuously growing programs as well as one new program, the Foundation positively impacts the lives of thousands.

1. The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy (WJHA) is a play-based program designed to increase school attendance as well as high school graduation rates in socially and economically challenged schools in Winnipeg.

2. Project 11 is an educational program designed to act as a curricular resource for teachers in grades 5-8 supporting positive mental health in the classroom.

3. The newly signed lease and operating agreement of Camp Manitou will enable the Foundation to deliver more than just a greatly improved summer camp experience, but develop a program that serves disadvantaged youth 12 months of the year.

During the Foundation’s first 18 years of existence it has provided over $7 million of funding to youth based initiatives across the Province of Manitoba. In recent years, the Foundation has turned its focus to self-programming initiatives including the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, Project 11 and Camp Manitou.
