At press time slaughter steers in the U.S. hit a record $1.44/lb. on the rail. I feel that, with the North American cow herd decreasing, these prices should become the norm. We see sprayers going over hay fi elds and seeded pastures. Why grow $8.00 canola and $3.50 corn? Markets do change and at a rapid pace. As we approach bull sale season, we see record numbers of cattle wagons heading south, with the majority of them carrying cows and bulls destined for slaughter plants. Again, another reason to stay in the cattle industry. Everybody has that common cow that brings home a common calf in the fall and that will bring a common price at sale time. Sale barn managers all agree the good and very good calves do return a premium at the auction ring. The quickest way to get that premium calf is with that premium bull. Talking to a cattle buyer the other day, he stated he had 10 buyers fi ghting to get a semi load of char-cross steers at 900 lbs. for $1.62 The math does very good things to your bottom line! I will close on the lighter side after a discussion at home of whether anyone really reads these sale book welcomes!

A full brother to our high selling red factor bull in the 2013 sale. This guy might even be thicker! He is tan coloured and has lots of bone. He is so stout and has great width of base.

Mr Reality is one of the favorite red calves in the pen. He has that stout hip, heavy muscle and check out the bone mass. We use his full brother to clean up some of our red cows and have sold bulls off him in the past.

If you like selling those big heavy steers in the fall, look no further. This bull has the performance and structure to produce those sought after steer calves in the market. Play Hard is deep bodied, heavy muscled, in an attractive made package. His dam is one of the rock solid, Peugeot females that is moderate in stature, with a great udder and huge hip.

This moderate made All State son is thick, deep bodied and will calve with moderate birthweights. He will sire those easy feeding type steers. A well balanced bull that stems from a moderate framed, attractive made cow.

After Earth has a negative BW EPD and plenty of performance. The Solid sons are impressive with so much calving ease but still perform with the best of them. This dark red bull is thick topped with lots of hair and plenty of testicles.

Silver Bull is a another Silverado son with plenty of thickness, bone mass, in a moderate frame. The feet on this bull are tremendous and just look at the length of body and ample testicles on this young herdsire.

This is a dark red, stout and hairy complete made calf. You have to admire him for his overall balance and thickness. He has been a favourite in the pen. His Pierce dam is a functional female who raised a front runner in last year’s sale.

The Butler is an easy keeping, dark red coloured, Solid son. Check out his birthweight of 88 lb. – plenty of calving ease. He has a great top line and plenty of thickness.

About Time is out of a Pierce female that is a favourite around here. This Canyon bull is very functional with his calving ease and above average weaning weight. He is a deep sided, clean shouldered, thick bodied, tan bull that is very eye appealling.

A hairy, rugged made Ultimate son. You have to appreciate his tight sheath and the overall capacity of this bull.

Buzzkill is a high volume, heavy boned bull with a really good coat of hair. He is big topped and has a lot of shape in his quarter. A well balanced bull with great testicular size.

A tan bull out of a Solid son that was a high seller in our 2012 sale to Doll Charolais in North Dakota. This bull has calving ease built in and is so clean shouldered. He is smooth all over and comes out of a functional female with superior udder quality.

Aberdeen is a Solid son with exceptional length of spine with the calving ease of his sire, Solid, built right in.

This Three Peet son is stout made with plenty of base and a great topline. A dark red bull with performance, a clean front end and is huge barrelled.

After Hours is a powerful fronted herdsire in the making. He is thick from front to back, has some bone mass, yet carries calving ease. He is a correct made bull with a great disposition.

A Solid son out of a Bert daughter with a lot of performance. This is a bull who can get out and move. We have sold several full brothers that have went on to work in commercial herds. We really like the consistency of the Solid calves, and 519A is no diff erent.

A Solid son with some performance and some bone in him. He is dark red and comes from a tan female that was purchased out of the Bar J dispersal. She is sound uddered, long sided and thick bodied.

Solid is a 3rd generation red, outcross sire for us. He was one of our high selling bulls in 2009 from Sand Rose Charolais. He is a very eye-appealing bull with lots of length, super fronted and easy calving. Solid has calved very well for us and we have been successful using him on heifers.

2007 National Champion Charolais Bull who has sired numerous champions in the show ring. The Firewater calves have a tremendous amount of base, natural muscling, depth of body and rib shape, along with structural soundness and attractive front ends.

Silverado has proven himself to be a great breeding bull. He combines calving ease with lots of performance, muscle, hair and testicular development. Silverado has some of the best feet and legs in the industry and passes on a great disposition to his progeny.

We added Juice Box to our bull battery for his performance, and performance he has! His calves have impressive length of spine, excellent muscling, are thick topped and carry a great set of feet and legs.

Silver Bullet was the high selling bull in Canada in 2010. This full brother to Silver Buckle has the performance, calving ease and length of body that is so important in raising pounds in the cattle industry.

An easy calving, powerful herd bull who is throwing calves with as much substance and natural thickness as any. His calves are deep fl anked, strong topped with powerful quarters and square hips.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until fi nal payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in suffi cient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is fi nal. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certifi cate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certifi cate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be

breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer.
