Why this Conference?
The spot price of graphite electrodes surged almost ten times in 2017 leaving steel producers
through EAF route worried about margins. After reaching the peak, prices have again taken a
downturn but are still significantly above the prices which were prevalent above the prices almost
a year back. Price volatility of graphite electrodes has made the market fairly unpredictable
leaving the end users and trade participants exposed to the possibility of wild fluctuations. Trade
experts have been minutely monitoring the slightest variations which could potentially disturb the
trade balance. The questions that how will the graphite electrode market pan out in 2018 is
playing on stakeholders minds.
