Hypothesis
That we live in a competitive “winner/loser” world that is based on external measures rather than personal expression. This is created from and, in a dynamic loop, creates a “winner/loser mindset.” Stress, anxiety, disengagement, distrust, and unhappiness are expected and predictable outcomes of thinking in such a way and living in such a world.
Theory• ‘Allegory of the Cave’ – Plato Republic
• Mindset affects neurobiology, physiology and gene expression– Dr Daniel Siegel, Ernest Rossi, Schwartz & Begley, Aronson & Steele
• Polyvagal Theory – Stephen Porges
• Happiness = S + C + V – Seligman, Lyubomirsky,
Sheldon, and Schkade (2005) • Neural interdependence – Marco Iacoboni, Daniel
Siegel
• Chronic Stress – Robert Sapolsky, Ernest Rossi
Threats
• Mortal – direct survival• Attachment – abandonement, support
survival
• Chronic Inflammation – illness, toxicity (principal indicator – obesity)
