Extend your exploration of Northern Europe with our Shore Experiences by Seabourn including our optional Ventures by Seabourn™ and shore excursions. Here is a sampling of some of our favorites:

VENTURES BY SEABOURN

FLÅM – EXPLORING AURLANDSFJORD BY KAYAKOne of the world’s most picturesque fjords, Aurlandsfjord is a branch of Sognefjord, Norway’s longest. Deep and narrow, plunging 3,156 feet below the surface and enfolded by nearly 6,000-foot peaks, it is a perfect setting for a tranquil, scenically spectacular guided paddle in a double sea kayak.

ÍSAFJÖRÐUR – PUFFINS, EIDERS, GUILLEMOTS: VIGUR ISLAND BY ZODIAC Charming Vigur has earned a great reputation among birders. Zodiac to the island with your naturalist guide, and meet its five hospitable human inhabitants. Walk around among eider ducks, arctic terns, puffins, black guillemots and other species gathered here. Also see Iceland’s only windmill, and Europe’s smallest post office.

LERWICK – JARLSHOF ARCHAEOLOGY SITE Jarlshof, on the Shetland mainland, is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in the British Isles, with remains dating from 2500 BC to the 17th century AD. With your resident archaeologist, explore ruins that include a Viking Age longhouse, to gain insights into medieval life in Shetland.

LOEN (OLDEN) – NORDFJORD BY ZODIAC & CABLE CAREnjoy a scenic cruise by Zodiac along the beautiful Nordfjord to the cable car station, for a dramatic ascent to the top of 3,040-foot Mt. Hoven. From there, a breathtaking view stretches from Mt Skåla and Lake Lovatnet in the east, south to Jostedalsbreen, Olden, and over to Nordfjord in the west.

QAQORTOQ (JULIANEHÅB) – HVALSEY NORSE RUINS BY ZODIAC: A UNESCO PARTNER TOURJoin your archaeologist to cruise by Zodiac up Qaqortoq’s scenic fjord to the ruins of the Hvalsey Church, where a wedding conducted in 1408 is the last written record of Norse Greenland. Surrounded by dwarf willow and harebells, the church ruins are an evocative and peaceful haven.

STAFFA – STAFFA & FINGAL’S CAVE BY ZODIACAbout six miles west of Mull, Staffa is renowned for its picturesque columnar basalt formations and huge, sea-carved Fingal’s Cave on its shoreline. The cavern has attracted celebrated visitors for centuries, including Queen Victoria and Felix Mendelssohn. Your visit will be made by Zodiac with your resident naturalist guide.

STAVANGER – PREIKESTOLEN/PULPIT ROCK HIKE Among the most iconic images of Norway is the Pulpit Rock or Preikestolen jutting 2,000 feet above Lysefjörd. We travel by ferry and road to the trailhead. The 2.4-mile hike takes about two hours with a gain of 1,100 feet in elevation. The stupendous view over Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains is a sight you will never forget.

STORSTAPPEN ISLAND – STORSTAPPEN ISLAND BY ZODIAC & NORTH CAPECruise in Zodiacs under the island’s dramatic cliffs, home to a million puffins, as well as gannets, kittiwakes and sea eagles, circling overhead in an exuberant display of nature’s abundance. Then land and ride to the Nordkapp (North Cape), to learn about life at Europe’s northernmost point.

SVOLVÆR (LOFOTEN) – LOFOTEN AND TROLLFJORD EXPLORATION BY ZODIACDepart by Zodiac from the ship, cruising to the towering ‘Lofoten Wall.’ Land on one of the islands, to learn more from a resident naturalist guide, alert for the moose that sometimes appear. Cruising on north by Zodiac, enter the impressive Trollfjord, where you rendezvous with your ship.

TASIILAQ – TASIILAQ & KONG OSCARS HAVN BY ZODIACWith just over 2,000 inhabitants,Tasiilaq is the most populous town on Greenland’s eastern coast, just 66 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Our guided Zodiac excursion will explore the Kong Oscars Havn fjord, Sermilik Station near Mittivakkat Glacier and the surrounding bays and inlets.
