The Spanish created borderlands to protect their settlements and to keep the French
and English out.
There were no plantations in Georgia before 1750. Explain why this was so and explain why this changed after 1750.There were no plantations in Georgia before 1750, because the original charter for the colony forbid slavery. James Oglethorpe wanted to start the colony by bringing debtors and prisoners from England to the hard work. This plan did not work, and so in 1750 the charter was changed to allow slavery in Georgia.
