What to Expect During Scheduling

Choose your classes and register in

Power School by January 27th.

February:

WMS Counselor will meet with you

individually to go over course requests

February 24, 2016: WHS Counselors will meet with OLMC and SMG

students. Students will manually choose courses on course list handout.

May 20th: Schedule Change Deadline. After

this date, no changes will be made, with few

exceptions, per the WHS Schedule Change Policy

Building Your Schedule: What You Need To Know!

No matter what classes you start with your freshman

year, ALL students can earn an Academic or Technical

Honors diploma.

All freshmen must take English, Math, PE I and Health.

Most will be recommended for a Science course.

These will be automatically placed in your schedule.

English, Math and Science placements are made by WHS Depts. based on

current classes, grades and test scores.

What to Look for in the Course Description Book PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING II

Pre-requisite: Principles of Marketing I

Credit: A one credit course

An Academic Honors and Technical Honors elective

Recommended Grade Levels 9, 10, 11 & 12

Principles of Marketing II is designed for students who plan to major in business or marketing in college. This course makes the assumption that students understand the basic marketing concepts from Principles of Marketing I. Emphasis will be placed on verbal and written communication, creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills related to all phases of marketing. Instructional strategies include projects in the marketing functions such as those available through the DECA program. Various topics covered in Principles of Marketing II include new product development, consumer adoption process (diffusion of innovation), product life cycle, physical distribution concept, distribution channels, ideal market exposure (levels of distribution), customer service, promotion mix, advertising/media selection, pricing strategies, and marketing concepts.

More On Academic Placements Students are placed by WHS Departments into

English, Math and Science Each department does their best to make appropriate placements

that will help student be most successful

Based on middle school classes, grades, standardized test scores

Opting Out of Honors If a student wishes to move from an Honors course to an on-level

course, complete a Schedule Change Form

Opting Into Honors In some circumstances, if a student wishes to move into an Honors

course, parents can sign an Opt-In Form to do so. (Not available in all academic areas.)

Summer School through IOA Students may take up to 2 credits online over the summer

Courses are FREE

Students must register online for courses in April and May at www.indianaonlineacademy.org. Detailed information will be emailed home this spring.

Counselors then approve course requests upon registration

Courses include PE, Health & Wellness, History, or Science credits

Counselors typically don’t approve English, math or World Language credits unless students are retaking for a higher grade

PE I and Health through IOA If you choose to take Health & Wellness and/or PE I

When students meet with WMS Counselor, they should ask to have PE I and/or Health removed from their course requests.

If students wish to take Strength and Conditioning for Athletes in 1st trimester, they MUST take PE I online over the summer.

SMG/OLMC Student Information Parents must pre-register students at Central Office for

the 2016-17 school year.

Birth Certificate, Immunizations, Proof of Residency are required to register a student.

If registered by March 1, student course requests will be a part of the master schedule with WMS students.

SMG/OLMC parents DO NOT have access to PowerSchool, so students will need to select electives on the course list. Counselors will enter them.

Counselors meet with students on February 24th.
