Who will be doing projects?

!What kind of project should I do?

!!

How do I get started?

Celebrate being done!

⦿ K-1st grade classrooms will present a class project. K-1st grade students also have the option of doing an individual project.

⦿ 2nd-5th grade students are required to do an individual project.

Option 2

Scientific Investigation

Do a Test To See If An Idea is True

Option 1

Engineering Design

Build Something

Read the directions for each option on the next page.

Engineering Design

1. Think of something you could build and follow the steps above.

2. Make a display. Show evidence of all your steps: bring in what you made, pictures of you building it, labeled diagrams, data tables from testing, or anything else. Be creative!

*Save trees! It is totes cool with us if you want to display your project as a Powerpoint presentation!

*Clearly write your name on the back of your display. The size limit is 3 x 4 feet.

3. Be ready to explain your project. Simple single sentences are fine for younger kids.

*Why did you choose it?

*What went well?

*What else do you want to try?

Scientific Investigation

1. Use the steps above to investigate something.

!3. Be ready to explain your project. Simple single sentences are fine for younger kids.

*What did you learn?

*How did you make sure it was a fair test?

*What else do you want to try?

*For grade 3-5 students: What were your manipulated, measured, and controlled variables?

1. Write an Experimental Question.

2. Make a Prediction:

3. Write Your Procedure: You must run at least 3 trials.

4. Record your data or observations.

5. Write a conclusion with a claim, evidence, and reasoning.
