YOUTH NEWS
Another beautiful week in the books. On Wednesday the group set up tables for Ladies Day, then went to the park. Dinner was a great taco salad. Thank you Ms. Brenda, Ms. Betty and Ms. Cheryl. Almost every week Brendan Felts shows up to assist the group and we are very thankful. We had a huge blessing this week. Evony Al-varado was baptized into Christ. What a blessing !!!!!!!! We love you Evony. Remember EU and CYC are coming up
Area Wide Teen Rally with Lonnie Jones at Pond Church of Christ on Nov. 4 at 3:45.
Get Ready for upcoming events of Evangelism University and the Challenge Youth Conference coming in February.
From the CouCh
A Psalm of Thanksgiving
It was the Father’s will, that I be ill,
And laid upon my bed. It is the Father’s grace to lift my face,
And pour blessings on my head.
It is the Father’s choice to use His voice, So I will read His word;
To speak His word to dying men, so man can be made whole again, And live forever with the Lord.
Ladies’ Day. 157 Christian ladies from 4 states (TN, AL, SC & KY) assem-
bled last Saturday to hear Deborah Faughn of IL teach on the theme, “It’s a Won-derful Life.” Thanks to all who planned, cooked, decorated, invited, & cleaned. Next year’s speaker will be Celine Sparks and the date is Oct. 27, 2018.
Homecoming & Family Day. 383 were present this past Lord’s Day for
our annual Homecoming & Family day. Thanks to all who invited, cooked, and cleaned. Thanks to Jerry Butler for suggesting that we invite a former preacher. It was great to see John and Hilda Vaughn & hear him preach. Thanks to William Western for suggesting that we invite a former song leader. It was great to see Steve and Janice McCarley & to have him lead singing. Next year’s speaker will be Geoffrey Sikes and the date is Oct. 28, 2018.
Baptisms. The church’s mission is to teach others to follow Jesus. We do
this by following Jesus, so we are an example to the lost. We also make disciples for Jesus by teaching His word. In two weeks, 5 people have been baptized into Christ (six in six weeks). Our responsibility to these is to keep teaching, serving, encouraging, & loving them so they can become mature Christians. Then they can do for others what some have done for them.
Future Guest Speakers. Philip Goad of Heritage Christian University will
speak for us on Sunday evening, Nov. 19. Alan Pitchford will speak on Sunday morning, Dec. 24. In 2018, speakers include Kyle Butts from Apologetics Press on April 29, Sellers Crain from the Rivergate church on July 29, and Justin Rogers from Freed-Hardeman University on Sept. 30.

Coat & Clothing Giveaway
Monday November 6
6:00-7:00 pm
Set up will be at 9:00 am Monday morning, Please let Marilyn know if you can help with the setup or the giveaway.
The Joy Group will be going to THE GRAIN-ERY in McEwen for lunch on Monday, Nov. 13. The van will leave
the church building at 11:00. A sign-up sheet is in the foyer.
Several have asked about possibilities for doing some
hands-on Hurricane Relief. We have two options de-
pending on your availability and skill level. Both
teams are open to anyone
Option #1: Garry Sensing, from White Bluff Church of
Christ is putting together a team to work with Grace
Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe, TX. They plan to
go November 8-15th, but those dates are still a little
bit flexible. This team will be working on a couple of
specific homes that will need insulation, drywall, and
finish work. This work will be better for those who
have some construction experience and skills.
Option #2: Frank Bradford from Burns will be working
with Disaster Assistance in Beaumont, TX from No-
vember 15th-19th. He tells me that Beaumont has
something like 1,400 homes, but only 17 had flood
insurance. Most of the homes here are still in need of
demolition and cleanup before any other work can
continue. This work would mostly consist of tearing
out drywall, hauling away trash, and generally being
useful to families trying to sort through the mess. No
experience at all is needed for this trip.
Both trips have lodging and meals provided, and
we're working to arrange carpooling or use of a
church van or bus. You'll just need tools, work
clothes, and a little bit of money for snacks, gas, etc.
If you're interested in either trip, contact its leader:
