According to HCU procedures for mail ballot elections:"No election will be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled." Therefore the following were elected for three year terms by acclimation at the March 28, 2008 annual meeting. Awaiting appointment until the April 22, 2008 Board meeting are two credit committee volunteers.

Volunteer Elections

The democratic process is a crucial part of what credit unions are all about. Every member has a vote and a say about how their credit union operates. Volunteers are elected to make decisions on behalf of the entire membership. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a credit union volunteer, contact the nominating committee, any current HCU volunteer, any branch or at www.hcu.coop.

Thank You!Special thanks to Ron Caffrey, Darlene Cushinberry, Ann Wagner and David

Patterson for serving as volunteers on the nominating committee.

sub-committee to the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committees. Kansas' credit union staff and members, numbering over 370, made a rally trip to Topeka to oppose the bill and talk to legislators.

Our members' messages made an impression at the Capitol. They were gracious enough to share them here too.

Ruth Stucky, a credit union member since 1955, knows well the history of Kansas credit unions. She was a secretary to Henry L. Peterson, president of the Kansas Credit League. Ruth said the motto of "People Helping People" was always strongly adhered to with work done at the capitol and in Kansas through the KSL, now known as Kansas Credit Union Association. She also had personal stories about her family's relationship with HCU as well as becoming an HCU advisor in 1988 and retiring 13 years later.

Duane Anstine, a member since 1959, joined as a new teacher at the suggestion of the school principal, Mr. Will Billingsley.

Duane's car had reached its last mile and needed replaced. HCU was able to finance a new vehicle for him and he has been a satisfied member since.

Preston Loomis represented Faith Bible Church of Lyon, KS which needed to have a new building for their congregation. After many unsuccessful attempts to obtain financing at local banks, an HCU business member who is a contractor recommended HCU. They now have their building and feel blessed about their HCU membership.

Dwane Synder, a member since 1964, said that HCU has always taken care of him and felt very strongly about the better service and personal success afforded him from his member relationship with HCU.

Patsy Stoecker Johnson, a member since 1976, started with a home construction loan that built her relationship with HCU. Patsy's loyalty continues to grow including stepping into a volunteer position on the credit committee in 2001.

Thank you to all members that voiced your support in this campaign.

Better Business Solutions Showcase

At HCU we offer a wide variety of business services. We would like to highlight the success of one of our business members.

Ebeling Pools, Inc...

A family business started by Charles & Betty Ebeling as Ebeling Construction in 1975 evolved into Ebeling Pools, Inc. under the direction of brother and sister duo, Mark Ebeling and Cheryl Riemann in 1997 . Ebeling Pools makes summers more enjoyable with installations of Emerald Spas, Esther Williams and Cardinal swimming pools. They find by having both ‘above ground’ and ‘in ground’ pool selections they can best fit a client’s needs.

Ebeling’s service goes beyond the set up and assists new owners with care and

maintenance solutions with a variety of BioGuard products to keep their investment in top condition.

Business growth also comes from other seasonal items like fireplaces and stoves that are fueled by wood, gas, pellet, corn or electric, and installed by staff that is National Fireplace Institute certified.

Ebeling’s have high service standards and enjoy their HCU business relationship with service they feel goes, “above and beyond to help support our business”.

Ebeling Pools Inc is located at 513 S. Walnut in Hutchinson or contact at 620.663.9805 or www.ebelingpools.com.

Myth #1 – There isn’t much history available with eStatements. There is a 24-month archive of your eStatements. You can download them at anytime, at your convenience, at no cost.

Myth #2 – You can’t save or print your eStatement. Your eStatement is an Adobe Acrobat PDF document. Once downloaded, you can save it to your hard drive or to a disk for future reference. You can also print your eStatement and keep a paper copy if you like.

Myth #3 – It doesn’t look like your paper statement.Your eStatement is an exact electronic replica of the statement you receive in the mail. The information is the same.

Myth #4 – eStatements are not safe and secure. In many ways, eStatements are safer than having a paper statement delivered by mail. When delivered by mail, there is always the

risk of it being stolen or getting lost. With eStatements, you have the extra security of entering your user name and password to access your statement.

How Do I Sign Up?Signing up for eStatements is free and easy. Simply log on to your account in HCU Online Banking. On the left navigation bar, you will see an option called “eStatements.” Click on the link, ask to stop your paper statements, and you’ll be asked to provide us with your email or update the email address we already have on file. Once you have done that, you’ll need to accept the eStatements agreement.

Need Help?If you have additional questions abouteStatements, or about anything else related to finances, contact us at 800 428.8472 or 669.0177, or visit us at any of our locations in Hutchinson, Haven, Newton, and Wichita. You can also email us at [email protected].
