s you well know, the unprecedented events of the past 12 months had

marketers scrambling to develop new strategies to reach clients in

an unpredictable world. We’ve all had to rethink how we go to market

and engage with customers.

Our team at GIE Media’s Manufacturing Group found opportunity amidst the

chaos. It’s easy for companies to brag about their cutting-edge capabilities, but

we put our money where our mouth is. Within days of the government shelter-

in-place orders, we pushed out four COVID-19 surveys to our subscribers. We then

hosted four separate townhall Zoom meetings with you our valued partners — to

give you an immediate feel for the state of the industry. Cancelling face-to-face

events might have stopped some in their tracks, but we invested in manpower and

technology to deliver the highest-quality virtual events, keeping you in front of

your customers. We have re-evaluated our offerings for 2021 and have put together

a suite of products that will allow you to leverage print, digital,

and social media for maximum reach.

And last but certainly not least, we continue

to focus on what we do best: produce the highest-

value content that decision makers rely on to run

their businesses, delivered to them on whichever

platform they choose. When the industry stalled,

our audience — your potential customers — turned

to us for the information they needed to move

forward. Our web traffic spiked, eNewsletter open

rates increased, and subscription demands for

print publication reached an all-time high. The

trusted relationships we have with our subscriber

base have never been more evident, providing you

a return on your investment found nowhere else.

While there is no playbook for marketing

during a global pandemic, one thing is for

certain: partnering with the industry’s only

vertical media offers you secure resources that

will ensure your sales and marketing message is

delivered to the marketplace in an uninterrupted,

highly-targeted, cost-effective fashion.

Now in its 7th year, Today’s Motor Vehicles has

established itself as the only trade publication

completely dedicated to the design, manufacture, and

assembly of cars, trucks, and commercial vehicles.

While 2020 brought challenges to the manufacturing

industry, the North American automotive market

will almost certainly grow. Increasing electronic

content and a continued focus on lightweighting will

contribute to positive trends. Today’s Motor Vehicles

focuses on these areas, as well as the entire scope of

manufacturing and engineering, new technologies,

groundbreaking processes, advanced components, and

high-performance materials – delivering your message

to a buying audience in need of your products.

Today’s eMobility (TeM) features design, manufacturing,

technology, and engineering advancements in electric

mobility, including electric vehicles (EVs), electric flight, and

unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Continued investments

in autonomous technologies are creating vehicles that

are safer today and might drive or fly themselves within a

few years. TeM delivers your marketing message directly

to a targeted audience including OEMs and Tier 1, 2, and

3 suppliers who are focused on how to design, build, and

specify components for the next generation of vehicles –

from the engineering and design studios through factory

floor production. www.TodayseMobility.com

PICKUP WAR GROWS2021 and 2022 will test the most lucrative automotive market’s taste for EVs as several automakers begin selling electric pickups Major launches include:

• Lordstown Motors: Endurance pickup to launch in early 2021

• General Motors is partnering with Nikola and will assemble

the Badger EV pickup in late 2021 or early 2022

• Rivian: R1T electric pickup set for early 2021 launch

• GMC Hummer EV pickup from GMC goes into

production in late 2021, probably as a 2022 model

• Ford: 2022 electric F-150 will be more powerful than

any gasoline-powered model in its current lineup

• Tesla: Cybertruck goes into production in late 2021

in Austin, Texas, most likely as a 2022 model

• Bollinger B2 to launch in early 2021

PROTECTING INVESTMENTSWhile automakers slashed spending on some new vehicle development

in 2020, they continued investing in autonomous technologies and

EV preparation. General Motors and LG began construction of a $2.3

billion battery plant in Ohio, and GM showed off several vehicles that

will use those packs. Tesla announced plans for its Texas plant. Ford

and Volkswagen put more money into autonomous startup Argo AI,

and Lordstown Motors, Fisker Inc., and Nikola all used reverse mergers

to go public in 2020, raising cash to launch more vehicles.
