Upstairs tanks again.
This time with water in them(& a big lobster on
top)!
In the winter, the water from the “hot” water tank heats up when it moves through the coils wrapped around the stove pipe.
We also heat much of our water in a pot on the wood stove.
In the summer, water from the “hot” water tank moves through the solar heater tank (in the grey box).
In both summer and winter, The water moves without a pump.
Since heat rises, the hot water moves to the upstairs “hot” water tank by itself.
Sunlight heats the water in the solar heater tank
The lid to the solar tank keeps the heat in at night and on cloudy days.
Water from the upstairs tanks moves by gravity to the shower.
The shower is in the outdoor closet we built last winter.

Heat for the house comes from the wood stove.
And from sunlight coming in the windows.
Most of the windows face south to get the sun’s heat & light.
The greenhouse has sliding glass doors to let in even more sunlight.
Solar panelsprovide all the electricity
Electricity is stored in car batteries under the bench (for when it’s dark or cloudy).
Vent for batteries is behind back of bench
Our refrigerator looks like a chest freezer
Can you guess why?
The refrigerator is in an outdoor closet(it’s behind the white door).
Can you guess why it’s not in the house?
You’re welcome to visit, &If you write to me, I’ll write back!
