A Unit on West Virginia Culture

AudienceThe Unit will be taught to a 3rd grade class in a West Virginia classroom. The class has 10 girls, 11 boys, 16 Caucasian, 5 African American. All students were born and raised in WV.
ObjectivesMy 3rd grade students will be able to do a group presentation on West Virginia Culture based on the book When I was Young in the Mountains, after listening to podcasts, doing Webquests, tasting food cooked by the kitchen staff, reading blogs, using twitter and facebook, using the smart board, taking a quiz, looking at pictures, looking at posters and watching videos by the end of a week and a day with an 85% accuracy.
