Expanded by default when a new instance of the app is open, but remains closed for previously saved searched. easily close by clicking the collapse button.

Default search is on in headlines and include Research, but can easily be toggled to search the full text of the story and exclude Research.

To display the filters set, click the chevron to expand the row.

The filtering capability replaces the former News Search Wizard and Boolean News Expression Builder and better integrates Global Press and News Wires.

Auto-suggest reveals different categories of news suggestions (markets, sectors, geographies, sources and more topics), is consistent with Explorer Views, and works with Boolean operators which can be changed by clicking on the operator.

Filters under Advanced Search can easliy be temporarily disabled via the checkbox or permanently removed by clicking the X.

Up to 3 different criteria (keywords, topics or RICs) can be highlighted. The highest in the list takes precedence over lower if two or more criteria are highlighted.

The highlight criteria can be prioritized by clicking the up/down arrows.

Search against a specific date/time via persistent and easy to find calendar icon.

Headline highlighter has moved from right-click function to an easy to find persistent icon.

Set the amount of rows the first headline will use for display (Auto, 1, 2, 3).

Display/hide source & RIC column in the headline view.

Add stories to Briefcase to be read later, available both from the headline and the story view. Briefcase is synched with Mobile to allow articles to be read on your table or mobile device.

Default setting opens stories in new window, but can be changed to open in same window.

Adjust the font size of the headline display.

Refine and personalize criteria by markets, business sectors, geographies, languages, sources, reports and more by clicking ‘Create’.

HOW TO ACCESS

To search for M&A Deals:

• Typing a company name and the word ‘deal’ or ‘deals’ into the search box will show all matching deals where the company is an acquirer, target or any other type of participant in a deal

• Entering the names of both participants in the search box will return more focused results – often navigating directly to the deals advanced search screen

• The sectors of the target or acquirer can both be used as part of the query – for example, type ‘healthcare deals’ into the search box

• The type of deal (merger, acquisition, buyback etc) can also be entered directly from the search box – such as ‘oil & gas mergers’

• The attitude of the deal (friendly, hostile etc) can be used, such as ‘hostile healthcare deals’

To search for private companies:

• Only a small subset are visible in autosuggest but selecting ‘More search results for ...’ at the bottom of autosuggest or “shift+enter” will show all the results. Drilling into the Companies/Issuers results from the search-all screen will show them all

To search for delisted companies:

• These are companies that are no longer listed on any exchanges – they differ from private companies mainly because they retain their RIC in a delisted form (for example British Airways is BAY.L̂ A11). This RIC will work with charting applications but not return a real-time quote

With Thomson Reuters Eikon – Version 4, Answers now has more asset coverage (FX and FI) and also a completely new experience that helps you to build a query by showing suggestions, powered by Graph Search technology.

Graph Search helps you build a search query on the fly and connect to various apps that will provide a direct answer. Suggestions are currently available for Equities (company fundamentals, company charts and technicals and indices), VWAP and currency and bond spreads.

Our coverage of FX and Fixed Income content in Answers provides the ability to quickly chart the spread between two assets. You’ll be able to search for your spread use cases directly from the command line. Answers creates a dynamic page with the spread chart and provides a link to connect to an Interactive Chart with the 2 assets. Using Graph Search, you’ll be able to see the suggestions for the second asset.

HOW TO ACCESS

Graph Search: Type “IBM vwap 10:30 to 10:35” into the search box to open your results in the VWAP calculator. Search “IBM Google” to see different data points. Enter a query e.g. “Toyota vs f correlation 2012 to”, and Search will suggest a date range.

FX Spreads: Search for an asset such as “eur1m= -“ and Search will show ‘spread’ as a suggestion. Being to type a second asset, e.g. “eur1m= - euro 3m forward swap”, Search will show more suggestions. When you select one of these, Answers will show a spread chart for the 2 assets.

Bond Spread: Type a bond using either an identifier or a ticker, coupon and maturity, and Search will show a suggestion to spread it against another bond.

ADVANCED ANALYTICS: SIGNAL APP

ADVANCED ANALYTICS: SIGNAL APPSignal is an advanced technical analysis capability that lets you monitor a list of securities real-time against a set of technical criteria, and immediately notifies you when a security meets one or more of the conditions.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Signal acts as an opportunity generator in that it monitors in real-time a universe of securities against one or more user-defined technical criteria, and immediately alerts you when any of the conditions are met. This in turn enables you to make faster and more well-informed trading decisions. In Signal, you can:

• Monitor a universe of securities real-time against a set of pre-defined and/or custom criteria defined by you, and be notified when any criteria are met.

• Display graphically when a security’s technical condition was met in the past.

• View in a quote list the securities that currently meet one or more technical criteria.

Signal is accessible as an App in the App Library or by typing “Signal” in the search box.

CHARTS: LIST MODEThe Chart now allows you to type in an Index and scroll through its Constituents, and also applies to portfolio lists.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Chart List mode allows you to quickly scroll through a list without having to know any codes, do quick rebasing or relative performance studies, while also reducing the need to have multiple charts. In Chart List mode, you’ll have:

• An Option to enable/disable this feature in the Chart Global Options

• A new heading in the Chart title to indicate that a list is loaded and how many Instruments there are

• New Key stroke to scroll through the list (CTRL-Page Up/Down)

• Ability to utilize existing chart features like studies and drawing tools (Trendline Persistence)

• Ability to link to a Quote or Quote List

HOW TO ACCESS

Ensure that list mode is on (On by Default) in the Chart Global Options. Then type in an Index, e.g. .DJI, and hit the CTRL Page Up/Down keys to scroll through. Use the chart as per normal and add studies, Trendlines, and more. While Index List mode needs to be manually turned on, the portfolio and custom lists are automatically turned on.


CHARTS: NEW TOOL – SPECIAL TRADING DAY SUPPORT

Charts will now update on Dates marked as holidays as some exchanges trade part days, ie 24 hour Globex markets. The new tool will allow you to see:

• The list that will contain any market holidays flagged but still open for trading

AUTEX IOI 4 new applications that work together to monitor broker liquidity.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The Autex applications allow you to find broker liquidity and determine which brokers are active in the symbols you are trading, so you can quickly and efficiently get your trades done.

HOW TO ACCESS

Once permissioned (contact your Thomson Reuters representative to gain access), FlexTrade is accessible via inserting into a flexsheet or by searching for “FlexTrade” in the App Library.

From the Preferences menu, choose Trading Preferences and ensure FlexTrade Spark is set up as the default trading application. Additionally, verify Live Trading is checked, otherwise FlexTrade Spark will not connect to the production system. Lastly, check the Double Click to Trade option if you wish to open order tickets by double clicking on prices throughout Eikon.

FX POLLS APP The FX Polls App provides exchange rate forecast data for 44 currency pairs.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

There’s more to it than the Median result of the Reuters Poll. Track predictions from the most accurate forecasters and leverage StarMine’s SmartEstimates to get an even more accurate indication of exchange rate expectation than the Reuters Poll itself. Overlay one forecast with another to view correlations between future exchange rates.
