That time of yearFollowing its long tradition, Apple announced the release of its iPhone this month. Veryquickly, conversation hit the web regarding the colors, the companies decision to remove aheadphone jack, and the now water-resistant hardware.

But there's moreYet, the phone itself isn't the only thing getting a boost. The company has also rolled its newoperating system, iOS 10, and with it, there are a range of new features that I've includedbelow.

Control Center

The Control Center has new features including a second, separate panel

for media/music controls, and 3D Touch support, which wil l al low users to

press f irmly on the f lashlight icon to turn the rear LED on with varying

levels of brightness.

iMessage

New features include: l ink previews, handwriting and a new Digital Touch

feature similar that of the Apple Watch. There’s also a brand new

Messages App Store that gives you access to free and paid iMessage

extensions.

Notifications

3D Touch (a feature carried over from iPhone 6s to the new 7) capabil it ies

wil l al low users to interact with notif ications from apps without opening

the app itself . With iMessage, for example, simply press f irmly on a

notification to reply right there on the lock screen.

Unlocking

Instead of swiping or using touch ID, iOS 10 requires you to press the

home button to unlock your phone. You can restore the old feature to

unlock the phone, however, through general settings.

Photos

The native photo app wil l include new features, such as facial recognition

and automatic album generation based on time and location.
