GUESTS AT OUR CLUB…

No meeting, no guests.

HOSPITALITY…

No news is (we hope) good news. Happy New Year everyone!

ANNOUNCEMENTS…

Please see Ellen Webb if you’re available to help with the Vouchers Program this Jan-uary or beyond in 2019. This program helps so many families in our community and is at risk of being cancelled if we don’t have enough volunteers to help. The commitment is just under two hours on Thursday mornings, helping families find the household items, furniture, etc. that they need. The Voucher Team resumes activities on Thursday, January 10.

A new staff member, Mary Schwartz, who will be the administrative assistant, starts on

January 7, 2019. Be sure to welcome Mary.

Remember Your Salvation Army Donations—Bring your contributions to the Janu-ary 7 meeting if you haven’t already given them to Garry Evans. Date your check in 2018 for that year’s tax deduction. As Major Wood told us, all of our contributions are

being matched by anonymous donors.

APPRECIATION DINNER…

Mark your calendars for the post-holiday Dinner for Volunteers, Members and Staff being organized by Mary Stewart and helpers in appreciation of all your hard work over the very busy and successful holiday season. This event will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5-7pm at the Kiwanis Center. Don’t miss it!

HAPPY DOLLARS…

NEWS FROM THE MICHIGAN DISTRICT...

The Michigan District of Kiwanis has been given an incredible and easy way to fundraise. All you have to do is share the good news!

Michigan taxpayers now have the opportunity to make a donation to Kiwanis when they are completing

their year-end State of Michigan Income tax return (Form 4642). The Kiwanis Fund Act was created in the State of Michigan as part of Michigan House Bills 5739 and 5740. The money individuals gift or donate on their tax return to Kiwanis will be distributed to clubs based on the county in which monies were received.

Check the box. Your club receives money. In other words, by telling everyone you know in your community about this new opportunity—and they donate—the money will come back to your club! Let your neighbors, friends and colleagues know that when they check the box on the State Income Tax return for Kiwanis—they will be helping kids in their own community.

WARNING: If we do not raise at least $50,000 per year for two years, Kiwanis will be removed the list.

Share the news today!

It's easy to make a difference. Help your club. Help Kids.

2019 NEW YEAR”S RESOLUTION...

Learn to use Signup Genius to schedule yourself for Thrift Sale Tasks. It’s easy, here’s how to do it:

FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR SONIA PETERSON…

Several messages were transmitted before the holiday to more than 150 volunteers for scheduling information for the new calendar year. Only about 50 responses have been returned with volunteer availability after January 1. If you have responded, THANK YOU! If you have not responded, we need the information ASAP to complete the schedule for the coming weekend and weeks beyond that. Based on previous work schedules, we have scheduled some on the same days you have worked in the past, but we need confirmation that these times are still valid. Please check the schedule below for any corrections or conflicts and let us know ASAP.

For the Sale on Friday and Saturday (January 4& 5) we are still short one cashier, at least two Sales Floor (SF) Work-ers each day, one Docker. On Friday we could use another wrapper. On Saturday, we need a Greeter, three for the Sales Floor and two more at the dock.

We are also short on Sorting help for Friday and Saturday. If you are available, please let us know ASAP.
