Great Questions in the Bible• “Hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden” Genesis 3:1• “Where are thou” Genesis 3:9• “Am I my brothers keeper” Genesis 4:9• “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go” Exodus 5:2• “Is the Lord among us” Ex 17:17• “How long halt ye between two opinions” I Kings 18:21• “Choose you this day whom you will serve” Joshua 24:15• “Will a man rob God” Malachi 3:8• “To whom shall we go, thou hast the words of eternal life” John 6:68• “My God why hast thou forsaken me” Matthew 27:46• ALL OF THESE QUESTION ARE GREAT (We learn a lot about each other and

God)• THE MOST IMPORTAT QUESTION WE CAN ASK• WHAT KIND OF QUESTION ARE YOU ASKING!

Page 4: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

Inquisition (what)• Means to ask• We must be interested in our salvation

– 2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

– 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

– 2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

• God wants us to be saved– 1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the

knowledge of the truth. • God will not force us------we have free will

– Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Page 5: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

Imperative (must)• Means something without option• We have no option about how we are going to be saved• God is not in heaven saying lets make a deal----God has already said this is

the deal!– Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:

and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

– John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

– Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

• Our salvation comes through Jesus and we must obey HIM! to be saved– Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other

name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Page 6: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

Individual (I)• Means personal• Our salvation is personal----no one can save you but you!

– Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

– 1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

• Our family and friends have to come second to our salvation– Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of

me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. – Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not

worthy of me. – Do you love your family more than you love your faith!

• No one can put you in the church or take you out----we cannot vote on it– Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord

added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Page 7: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

Implementation (do)• Means action• Salvation is not free (The opportunity to be saved has been extended to all men)

– Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

• Grace is a free gift– Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it

is the gift of God: – Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

• We must be obedient to Christ in order to receive the grace– Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have

right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. • Prayer will not save (Acts 22:16)• Good morality will not save (Cornelius Acts 10:1-6)• The only thing that saves man from his sins is obedience to Gospel of Christ• HAVE YOU OBEYED THE GOSPEL?

Page 8: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

Intentions (to be saved)• Means the reason for something• Our salvation is the most important thing in our lives

– Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

– 1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

– 1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

– 1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

• We are here today because we have a desire to please God• But our desires and sincerity will not save us!• Doing the will of God is what will save us (Matt 7:21; Heb 5:8-9)

Page 9: What Must I Do To Be Saved Acts 16:30

What You Must Do To Be Saved• Hear the word of God

– Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. • Believe that Jesus is the Son of God

– Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

• Repent of your sins– Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the

times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; • Confess the name of Christ

– Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

• Baptized in water– 1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away

of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

• Live faithfully unto death– 2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: – 2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the

righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
