Personas are not average users Personas  are  the  most  challenging  users  we  want  to  cater  for.  If  we  make  them  happy,  we  can  be  sure  that  everyone  in  between  will  be  happy  too.

Give yourself and your

colleagues permission to sketch

Page 32: What is UX?

Make space for your sketches

"Sure, the act of creating a sketch can help an individual designer work through concepts and ideas. But more often than not, a significant - if not greater - part of the value comes in encouraging its social life." Bill Buxton

1. What is the problem we’are trying to solve?

Susan struggles to find her way around the school.

BECAUSE There are too many staircases, and they all look the same.

BECAUSE She has never been able to tell left from right, so she finds it more difficult than most to navigate through spaces.

BECAUSE She feels too anxious to explore because she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to find her way back, and she doesn’t want to get in trouble for being late.

How might we help Susan to find her way around the school confidently and without asking anyone?

Based on your research:

interviews, personas, journey maps

You are going to create a sketch

of the ideal ‘new’  school.
