WHAT IS PROMISE?Arkansas PROMISE is a research project open to youth ages 14-16 who currently receive SSI benefits. PROMISE will only enroll 2000 youth. For 1000 youth, PROMISE will provide educational and employment support to youth and adult family members. PROMISE will connect families to needed services. PROMISE will help youth set goals to be connected, included and successful in their communities.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?The program is free to youth receiving SSI and their families. There is no cost to be in the PROMISE project.

HOW DO I ENROLL IN PROMISE?

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?PROMISE youth will set their own goals and work to achieve them together with PROM-ISE and families. PROMISE will provide job skills and knowledge opening new doors for youth and their families. PROMISE will con-nect families to the community, to employ-ers and help youth participate actively in their world. PROMISE will arrange for paid work experiences for youth.

HOW WILL IT AFFECT MY BENEFITS? Enrolling in PROMISE won’t affect the SSI benefit. PROMISE will provide counseling to help families understand how their choices affect the SSI benefit. Students can earn money under a student earned income ex-clusion.
