WHAT DOES THE QUR’AN SAY ABOUT RAMADAN?WHAT DOES THE QUR’AN SAY ABOUT RAMADAN?

Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you, as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may become

mindful ˹of God˺ (become aware of Allah){Surah 2, Aya 183}

…and to fast is better for you, if you only knew{Surah 2, Aya 184}

Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was ˹sent down˺ as a guide for humanity (people) with clear proofs of

guidance and judgement (between what is right and wrong){Surah 2, Aya 185}

The ˹best˺ amongst you in the sight of Allah are those best in Taqwaa (who are aware of Allah)

{Surah 49, Aya 13}

Indeed, ˹It is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Qur’an˺ down on the Night of Glory. And what will make you realize

what the Night of Glory is? The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months. That night the angels and the

˹holy˺ spirit (Angel Jibreel) ˹come down˺ by the permission of their Lord, for every ˹decreed˺ matter.

It is all peace until the break of dawn (Morning){Full Surah 97}

Prophet Muhmmad said:When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates

of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.

{Sahih Bukhari}

Prophet Muhammad said:... whoever fasts during Ramadan out of

˹complete˺ faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.

{Sahih Bukhari}

Abu Umamah reported: "I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'Order me to do a deed that will allow me to enter Paradise.' He said: 'Stick to fasting, as there is nothing like it.' Then I came to him again and he said: 'Stick to fasting.’

{Sunan an-Nisa’i & Musnad Ahmed}

Prophet Muhammad said: Every action of the son of Adam is given ˹various˺ reward, each good deed receiving 10 times its like, up to 700 times. Allah, the Most High, said, 'Except

for fasting, for it is for Me and I will give reward for it, ˹for my servant˺ leaves off his desires and his food for Me.'

For the fasting person there are two times of joy; a time when he breaks his fast and a time of joy when he meets

his Lord, and the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk.[Hadith Qudsi – which means it comes from Allah Himself]

{Sahih Bukhari}
