what are ric hearing aids
TRANSCRIPT
What are receiver-in-the-canal hearing aids? The newest development in behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids is
here – receiver-in-the-canal (RIC) hearing aids! These aids may
also be called receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) hearing aids. So slim,
discreet, and stylish, these hearing aids are hard to detect, other
you’re your suddenly improved hearing! Great sound quality due
to deep placement of the speaker (receiver), these may be your
hearing aids!
Very similar to open-fit BTEs
cosmetically, there are a few major
differences between the two. Open-
fit BTEs are made up of the hearing
aid sitting on top of the outer ear, a
small tube running along the front of
the ear, coupled to a small pliable tip
or custom ear piece in the ear. The
tube and ear piece funnel sound from the hearing aid to the ear.
RIC hearing aids, however, house the speaker in the ear by
replacing the tube with a small thin coated wiring connected to
the speaker protected by a flexible tip or ear piece in the outer
ear canal. Placing the speaker in close proximity with the ear
drum allows for less loss of sound and improved sound quality!
These tiny advanced digital hearing aids fit a wide range of
hearing losses, from mild to severe. A variety of styles, brands,
and colors are available from skin tone to more bold color
choices! Nearly undetectable, these aids are a great choice for
those worried about cosmetics! One may be ready for you! Ask
your hearing healthcare professional about your candidacy and
purchase of a RIC hearing aid!
