What is CIGRÉ?

• International council on large electric systems (counceil international des grands reseaux electriques)

• An international organisation dedicated to the identification and the development of solutions to technical issues in the power supply sector

• Began in Paris in 1921 when the first interconnected networks were being planned

• With members in more than 80 countries, the combined expertise is directed towards the solution of broader industry problems

2013 SC B4 Colloquium in Brazil 02/10/2013 - 03/10/2013 Brasilia - Brazil

Organisation : CIGRE Study Committee B4 and CIGRE Brazilian National Committee

HVDC and Power Electronics to Boost Network Performance

The Colloquium will cover a range of topics encompassing the challenges that transmission networks are presently facing or likely to face in the future, and the role which HVDC and power electronics will play in meeting those challenges to boost network performance. With the above context, the topics will include the following:Topic 1 - Technological developmentsTopic 2 - New projects, including upgradesTopic 3 - System planning and related considerations
