Editing Video from the Web with WeVideo
Logging In to WeVideo
Recommended Browser
WeVideo should function in all web browsers, but for the best experience theyrecommend Google Chrome.

WeVideo Accounts
To log on to WeVideo, you can either create an account or use your existing Google (Gmail) account.
First, go to the WeVideo log-in page: https://www.wevideo.com/sign-in
Creating An Account from Scratch Logging in With Google
To create a WeVideo account (one that isnot linked to your Gmail account), clickthe green Sign Up button at the top-rightof the screen.
To log in with Google, go to the log-inpage and select “Sign in with Google”
In the list of plans that appears, find theone on the left that says Free and clickthe GET STARTED button below it.
On the next page, enter your contactinformation in the right side of the screenand click the Sign Up button.

Starting a New Project
3 Steps to Setting Up A New Video
At the top-left of the screen,click on the New Project button.
Enter a name for your projectand push the Create button.
Select Create New Video
Uploading Files
In your new video project, click on theUpload Media button to add videos,images, or music from your computer.
Uploading from Computer You can upload files from your computer
by pressing the Browse button.
Uploading from the Web You can also upload files you have storedin web services like Google Drive orDropbox.
Click on their icon and follow thedirections to import from those locations.

Editing Your Video
Switching Views There are two ways to look at your project in WeVideo. The one we will be using iscalled Timeline Mode..
To switch to Timeline Mode, click on the menu icon (three lines) at the top-left ofthe screen. From the menu, select Timeline Mode.
Adding Media To Your Video Project
The images, videos, and other media youuploaded should appear in the middle partof your screen.
Drag and drop your videos and imagesonto the timeline – they should go in thearea next to the dark filmstrip.(This is your main video track.)
Editing Video Clips – 3 Steps to Splitting Clips
To edit a video clip, first clickon it in your timeline.
Move the green line to the partof your video that you wouldlike to cut.
Under the video preview area,click on the Scissors button tosplit your clip in two.

Deleting Video Clips
To delete a video clip, left-click on theclip in the timeline.
If your clip is long enough, you may see aDelete button above it.
If your clip does not have a delete button,
look under the video preview area, thenclick on the Trash button.
Special Effects and Video Clip Settings
To add effects or change the settings for a video clip, left-click on it in the timelineand click on the Edit button.
Editing Options There are different settings you can alterfor each video clip (and image) you use inyour video.
1. Transform – Make your videofit your screen or change itsorientation
2. Sounds – Make the sounds inyour video louder or quieter(mute them if you only want tohear music)
3.
Contrast and Brightness
4. FX: Add special effects like blackand white coloring, or withimages add a “Ken Burns Effect”
Adding Music to Your Video Project
To add music, click on the Music Note towards the top of the screen.
Stock MusicOn the left, you can choose from stockmusic.
Look through the folders for genres youould like, and click on the sound wave
pictures to preview the music.

Applying Music to Your VideoDrag-and-drop the music onto the Music track on your timeline to apply it.
Adding Transitions to Your Video Project
To add transitions to your project, clickon the Transitions button.
Use the folders on the left to find andpreview transitions. (Just like we did forthe stock music above.)
Applying Transitions To add a transition to your video, drag-and-drop the transition between two video clips or images on your timeline.
Adding Text to Your Video Project
To add text to your project, click on the Text button.
Use the folders on the left to find andpreview text styles. (Just like we did forthe stock music above.)

Adding Titles & Credits To add text at the beginning or end ofyour movie, drag-and-drop the selectedtext style to your main video track .
To edit the text, click on your text in thetimeline and click Edit button above it.
Enter your text into the grey box.
Click Done Editing when finished.
Adding Text Over Your Video To add text over your video, drag-and-drop the selected text style to a videotrack above your main video track .
This will create your text as an overlay
(will appear on top of your video clips.)
Shortening Text DurationHover your mouse over the very end ofyour text “clip” in your timeline.
When the two-headed arrow appears,click-hold-and-drag to the left toshorten your text clip.
Saving Your Video
To publish your video to WeVideo, clickon the Publish button at the top of thescreen.
Uploading to WeVideoSelect the following:
UPLOAD TO: WeVideo or
Google Drive
QUALITY: 480p for longer videos, 720p for short HD videos
Private (lock icon in bottom-left)
Then press Publish Video

Accessing Videos Saved to GoogleDrive The videos you save to Google Drive willappear in your account after publishing.
These video files can be downloaded orshared just like any other document inGoogle Drive.
Accessing Published Videos in WeVideo To access your videos once they havebeen published, look to the very top ofthe screen and press Exports.
Sharing (Turning In) Videos To share a video, select it from theExports page.
To the bottom-right of the video, pressthe sharing button.
Copying the URLIn the Share Video pop-up window, left-click and highlight the URL.
Right-click to copy the URL.
Paste the URL into an email to send it toa teacher.
If your students are too young to have emaiaddresses, have make a Google Form
that they can copy-and-paste the URL into – this way you will have a spreadsheet of all o
the videos in your class .

You can also download videos from WeVideo or if you published to Google Drive, you can download or share it from there.
