Dear Mr. Carew:
This is a report regarding the wetland delineation we did for the 34.29-acre +/- farm located off E 300 N in Lebanon, IN. We did a wetland and Waters of the U.S. delineation of the plants, soils, and hydrology of the site, per current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) standards and specifications.
While there were a few saturated swales and farmed wet areas, as well as an emergent wetland indicated on the NWI Map, there were no wetlands delineated.
The site appears to have a working subsurface tile drainage system and is routinely farmed. We observed the site the third week of June 2021, just after significant seasonal rainfall, which had little impact on the well-drained soil. Additional supportive information is included in the report.
In conclusion, it is important to understand that if the field is allowed to go fallow for one or more growing seasons, it is possible that wetland plants from dormant seed could begin to emerge in the hydric soil. Therefore, we would recommend that the site continue to be farmed each year until site development is ready to begin.
